It all started as a group for passionate Big W shoppers but the Original Big W Facebook Group for Families has denigrated over the last few days into a cesspit of x-rated banter, bad taste memes and scantily clad pics.
The drama began when the Big W Families facebook group admin, publicity-hungry Kristy VL, posted a controversial photo of herself posing seductively in Big W swimmers.
To be honest, I felt the vicious volcano that ensued was a bit over the top and the insults being slung from both supporters and adversaries were bitchy and inflammatory.
Members left in droves. Others joined just to grab the popcorn and watch the drama unfold.
Name Change
As a response to opponents complaining that the group no longer represented family values, Kristy VL changed the name of the group to Big W Clientele (whatever that means).
The war should have ended there. The group should have reverted back to vanilla posts about deals, discounts and the awesome discovery that Peggy Sue made when she was shopping in Big W the other day.
More Flames
But the battle didn’t end. Kristy VL and her band of moderators have done absolutely nothing to douse the flames. In fact, they’ve stoked the fire with more spicy posts and allowing downright offensive material to be published.
Kristy, who openly promotes her premium snapchat account, subsequently has posted scantily clad posed photos, which are clearly designed to get a reaction. And that’s exactly what she’s getting…although most of the attention is negative.
Big W Is Poised To Take Action
The corporate big-shots at Big W are clearly disgusted that their brand name is being used in this way and are making moves to get the page banned.
One of the members recently posted:
“This page is absolutely disgusting if the head office of Big W were to actually see this rubbish representing their company name you would be up for a big law suit… I don’t think they have any idea More like a junkies stage to get famous No offense to the desent people on here Meth addicts …foul language and wanna be pole dancers.”
Big W’s Response
Another follower has posted a response that they received from Big W when complaining about the group: “We are aware of the situation and please know our legal team is working with Facebook to have this page removed,” read the reply.
Disgraceful
While the semi-explicit photos are confronting, we were absolutely shocked that a disgraceful meme about Yellow Wiggle Greg Page’s recent heart attack was posted by one of the moderators of the site. And it is still there. Clearly off-topic, super offensive and very un-Australian.
Every post on the group draws a plethora of opposing views – some are extremely vocal in support of Kristy and her cronies, while others are clearly appalled at how quickly the group has degraded.
“It’s like a train wreck you can’t look away,” one member commented.
Concerning
Many are genuinely concerned about Kristy’s mental health.
“She seems to be aiming this at others when she needs to aim it at herself. Someone should call a mental health nurse for her, ” read one comment.
But it seems that everyone looks a bit of scandal so while thousands have left the community, there are still over 58,000 members who are lapping up the MA-rated discussion.
Enjoy it while it lasts though….we doubt the page will be around for much longer.
