If you’re looking for some sweet Easter treats to make at home that are no-cook and no-fuss, then you can’t go past these sweet little carrots!

The perfect combination of craft and a sweet and so easy to put together. These sweet easter treats would be so much fun in your own children’s Easter basket, you could send them to school as a treat for your childrens’ teachers or you could place a lovely big basket in the middle of your table for all your visitors!

What you’ll need:

• 1 roll of clear cellophane (or cellophane sheets are fine too)
• A selection of orange ‘carrot coloured’ sweets. We used orange m&ms (we had to remove the white ones), orange skittles and orange rainbow chips.  You could also use orange bo peeps (tiny boiled lollies) or orange sprinkles.
• Green ribbon/s – we used a combination of 2mm dark green satin ribbon and 5mm green organza ribbon but you could really use whatever takes your fancy.
• 1 A4 sheet of light card – any colour (this is just to make a funnel and doesn’t appear in your finished carrots).
• Clear glossy sticky tape

How to make your sweet little carrots:

1. Create a cone shape out of your sheet of light card and secure with a piece of tape.  Then snip off the end to make a hole big enough to allow the largest of your lollies to trickle through easily.
2. Cut a 25cm x 25cm square of cellophane and then wrap it around the outside of the cone shape and secure with a small piece of tape about 5cm from the tip of the cone.
3. Take a 10 – 12cm piece of tape and secure the join of the cellophane starting at the tip, ensuring the end is sealed neatly.
4. Start with your a few of your smallest lollies to fill the tip and then continue to add your lollies until your carrot reaches your desired length.
5. Remove the cardboard cone and then tie the top of the carrot with your first piece of ribbon (place a knot in this piece and then train the ribbon ends upwards to simulate carrot tops).  You can then add as many additional pieces of ribbon as you like and can leave them all as short pieces or tie one of them into a bow (we did this with the organza ribbon).

That’s it – as easy as feeding carrots to a rabbit! 

Once I showed my kids one of these they spent ages making one for each of their classmates and friends.  They then had fun with their little ‘grass’ rabbits, the carrots and my camera!
