10 lucky winners will receive a copy of The Drop-Off by Fiona Harris & Mike McLeish!

The Drop-Off is a hilarious look at the unlikely friendship between three parents who gossip, laugh, drink coffee and would rather keep to themselves at school drop off. A cross between Kitty Flanagan and Liane Moriarty, this is a novel that will make you laugh and cry while reminding us all of the redemptive power of friendship, community, forgiveness… and good coffee!

And it all begins at The Drop-Off.

Written by husband and wife team, Mike McLeish and Fiona Harris, The Drop-off is based on the award-winning, critically acclaimed web series of the same name.

  • School drop has only just started for me and covid has messed that around but I love meeting the news mums and getting to know parents of children in my daughters class.

  • Dropping off my Preppie while my 2yo twins were having a mega tantrum who was going to be a big girl and sit in the toddler seat of the pram while my newborn was screaming his head off. I got a lot of sympathetic looks at school that morning.

  • Dropping my babies off to school for the first time. With them happy an me balling my eyes out.

  • Dad took me to the school on my first day there on Dad’s bicycle. I sat at the back with my school bag over the shoulders, Dad paddled quite hard up the hill, I wanted to get off but he wouldn’t let me. I watched my diet from then on.

  • Heavy raining and hot sunny days are the worst memory.Walk to her class by herself for the first time is the best memory.

  • Getting pyjama day mixed up and being the only ones with the fresh out of bed look!

  • While fetching my preppie son from school, I see my newly potty trained son with his pants down, proudly standing in the sandpit doing his business. I was absolutely mortified, quickly digging up the pool he made and throwing it out.
    Never a dull moment!

  • I’m waiting for the perfect book and this is it!

  • The ear piercing screaming on the first day of school. It’s incredibly traumatic and only other mums/ dads can understand. Something you unfortunately never forget!

  • Realizing that my son was fine and didn’t need me for support on his first day of school. It was both amazing and sad.

  • Back to front shirts? Unruly periods? Kids having tantrums … at 9 years old!!!! I have had some dozies. Due to bad family planning will have to start again.

  • Dropping my 2 boys off one morning and my ever so loving 3 year old daughter decided it was the perfect time (whilst trying to cross at the school crossing) to throw a tantrum. I swear every head was turned our way!

  • Sitting and catching up with a good friend while waiting for our kids to come out of class. We met at playgroup.

  • Dropping off my older son at school, I had my newborn in my arms. He decided school drop off, in front of all the other parents and teacher, was a good time to vomit up his milk – all over me and the classroom floor.

  • At drop off I saw a young Mum struggle to get her 1 yr old twins out of the car so she could walk her 4 & yr old to the Kindy gate. One of the twins had fallen asleep & she hadn’t had a good night. I offered to walk her 4 yr old to the gate by FaceTime so that she could blow a kiss to her once we were at the gate. That afternoon I was given a card by the Kindy girl saying thank you & the appreciation on the Mum’s face was unforgettable!

  • backing over a cat that ran behind me while i was reversing getting out of a carpark oh, it was just horrible

  • We had the worst car
I’d make mum drop me off afar
All the kids would laugh at me
Its definitely not a good memory for me!

  • How a teacher deals with 32 different languges in one class as I waited for the kids it was united nations

  • My sister always freaked when mum was driving our old car called “the bomb” and always asked mum to drop us way before the school gates as was very embarrassed about our old car and didn’t want to be seen it it

  • The best memory was with no cars
There was no never ending line of bumper bars
Most of the children were off at camps
Having a week of no school – the little scamps
That meant that working mums were at work on time
Making my morning just so sublime!!!!!
