Read the sensational new novel from Fiona Higgins!

25 lucky mums will WIN a copy of the book Wife on the Run by Fiona Higgins from Allen & Unwin – valued at $29.99 each.

A mother’s greatest fear… A wife’s worst nightmare… What would you do?

When two technology-related disasters hit within days of each other, Paula knows her comfortable suburban life has been irrevocably blown apart. One involves the public shaming of her teenage daughter, the other is a discovery about her husband that shocks her to her core. With her world unravelling around her, Paula does the only thing that makes any sense to her: she runs away from it all.

She pulls her children out of school and takes off on a trip across Australia with her elderly father and his caravan. The only rule is No Technology – no phones, no Facebook, no Instagram, no tablets, games or computers. It’s time to get back to basics and learn how to be a family again.

A thrilling, tender and hugely entertaining story of loss, love and discovery from the bestselling author of The Mothers’ Group.

Available where all good books are sold in November 2014.

  • I have a CD of Barbara Streisand singing a duet, and one line is,” if you ever leave me, will you take me with you?” So long as husband and children are with me, anywhere not too hot. They are my world, I love them.

  • The middle of nowhere, a cottage in the outback. Silence, fresh air and peace.

  • I would run to my family and friends in Germany because I miss them all!

  • To the haunted castles of Scotland where I could lurk in the darkness in hopes of capturing proof of the spirit world!

  • If I could just pack up and go,
I’d drive the Great Ocean Road.
    So much beauty to behold,
sea air to refresh my soul.
Once there’s nowhere else to roam,
it’s back to the chaos of home.
    Second thoughts, a better plan..
I may just drive the road again!

  • Sometimes i would like to run away to a quiet room, where i could get room service without sharing what i ordered, where i cant here anyone saying mum…… really the room could be anywhere as long as it gave me some respite, and perhaps a chance to read a new book! :-)

  • Island in QLD… Not too far but still tropical and relaxing.

  • Simply a beach where the palm tress are swaying and no one is around ,so I could enjoy just one peaceful day.

  • Simply to a nice beach where the surroundings would be tranquil, swaying palm trees and no one around to enjoy the peace.

  • I would like to run away to Fiji, it’s an island. White sand, Palm trees and blue ocean. Sounds like heaven.

  • i would run to a fantasy destination where there was no judgement from others and there was no family stress. ie a deserted island. this way i can be alone with my thoughts and i can unwind from being mum and wife 24/7

  • I would go to space! Seriously there is no one else there you can be free from everything. No peer pressure, no racism, nothing! Just free to be yourself. Just imagine the view you would have every day.

  • i would run away to a new town and start again and make new freinds ,but stay in contact with family

  • Fiji – to rest and relax. To really enjoy life and experiences – Europe – particularly Italy and the Greek Islands. Pretty sure they speak for themselves…..

  • Being a mother of six and a partner who yes works then just sits on his arse and gives no help . Hell yes I would love to run away I think about it ofyen only to come to the realization it would all be 100 times messier when I got back . Where would I go homestly not to far need to be close to my kids !!

  • I would go far away as possible where I could dream and hopefully forget my woes, and would try and carve a new beginning for my children and myself, perhaps an atol near Fiji would suit.

  • I’d go somewhere my kids could feel safe and happy we struggle with “escaping” everyday we are safe but still look around check our surroundings every minute of the day. People need to appreciate the pleasure of freedom as it can be taken so quickly.

  • Coober Pedy, never been there and could think of no better place to escape, from everyone and technology. Then escape into the under ground living spaces and going prospecting for gems

  • I would run away to a beautiful island off australia. The beauty and the nature but still close to home is why i choose this destination.

  • to a health retreat to lose weight and get mentally and emotionally fit
