With the release of Squid Game season two just around the corner, McDonald’s has revealed an iconic collaboration meal will be dropping this week – and it’s exclusive to Australia.

From this Wednesday the Macca’s Squid Game Meal and Challenge will drop across the nation, inspired by the most popular Netflix show ever. The Macca’s Squid Game meal includes 10 Chicken McNuggets in a medium or large meal, served with limited-time Korean BBQ Sauce, fries and a drink.

But here’s the kicker – it will also come with a Dalgona Candy. Fans of the series will know the iconic treat was part of the Squid Game challenges. The Macca’s candy will be available with four shapes: circle, triangle, star and the Golden Arches ‘M’.

Try any way possible to release your shape and you’ll be in the running to win an exclusive Macca’s and Squid Game Green Player Tracksuit. And if you manage to conquer the Macca’s M shaped candy, you’ll go in the draw to win $1000!

The meal will be served in an adult-sized Squid Game box over the next four weeks.

  • I’m glad its an adult size, but I worry this packaging will make the show appealing to kids.

  • Not being a McDonald’s fan, there is no way that anyone in my household would be buying this to enter into any of the games held by McDonalds. Also, I have no idea what this game is about as we don’t have Netflix as that was one quick way of reducing our spending as costs have gone up and up on everything.

  • Another way to get the children hooked on Macca products but do not worry each year they shrink and it will not be long before they shrink to nothing and people stop buying

  • I don’t think this is really appropriate for McDonald’s but honestly, my older kids will be all over this deal because they’ve heard so much about squid games from friends. Hopefully it’s cheaper and doesn’t cost as much as other meals because Maccas is getting super expensive these days compared to what it used to be.

  • Never been a fan of squid games. So not impressive to me at all unfortunately. I would prefer something different that is collectable for kids but maybe also useful.
I’m sure there are others that would tend to agree with me.
But all the best with the launch of this

  • I have never been into the Squid games, and don’t know anyone who is, but I am sure there are people out there who will think this is great, and will head into maccas to try it. I am not really a fan of maccas either so will be gibing this promo a miss!

  • I started watching Squid Games, but quit after about 30min. I could not get into it. There will be plenty of people rushing to McDonald’s to take advantage of these deals and try their luck with the Dalgona Candy. I will admit I do want to know what this Dalgona Candy means and does.

  • I’ve never seen or heard of the program and, since I live 200kms away from the nearest store, I’ll also be missing out on this great product.

  • I’ve never watched it, and I’m not wild about chicken nuggets, so… no. Won’t be trying it.

  • I’m really not into Squid Game. My hubby was watching it a little to see what the hype was about, so I did see some. It’s extremely violent and I’m not really all that sure that Maccas should be supporting something like that. It’s all well and good to add Korean flavours, but maybe something that doesn’t support death and violence?

    • You have an interesting comment and point and it is always good to have lots of conversations about targeted promotions and links to shows. I have not watched the show at this stage and it is hard to form an opinion about the content and the link to the promotion until viewed.

  • I’m not a fan of McDonald’s food , so no I won’t be running.
I had no idea what the Squid game challenge is and had to google it:
Inspired by the TV series, “Squid Game,” real-life contestants compete in a series of high-stakes children’s games in pursuit of a $4.56 million cash prize; their strategies will be put to the test, while competitors are eliminated around them.

  • Thank you for sharing the promotion and information about this launch with the community. Another show to research and have on the watch list at some stage. We might participate in the promotion after researching and finding out more information about the promotion. Possibly those that have watched the show understand more of the terminology.

  • Prefer to buy the McSmart meal rather than the Squid one
The McSmart meal satisfies my small appetite

  • No. I haven’t gotten around to watching this yet, though my kids tell me I should! I’m not a big Macca’s eater either so not worried about missing out.

  • My kids love squid games! I’ll have to get in on this as they will be excited and will want to participate.
We usually go there once a fortnight anyway but thank you for the heads up. Hopefully it doesn’t sell out too quickly and we don’t get a chance.

  • Ok I might have to try this!

  • I’ve heard about this game, but don’t know anything about it. I’m sure this meal will appeal to many.

  • Loved the series and would love to have a big kid happy meal! I don’t know how I’ll go with the candy scratching though.

  • I have not seen this movie and will not be running to Macca’s to buy this LOL – My daughter is too young for this movie so it will not be on our list to get. I will leave this for those who do love Squid Games as they will enjoy it more.

  • I have never seen the show so dont really know what its about. Im already confused over how you release your shape and how on earth would you conquer it? Very doubtful that I would take part as its not something I would normally buy and as I have no idea how it works its a no for me
