CHOICE discover the best instant coffee at a budget price!
In a blind taste test conducted by consumer advocacy group Choice, members who regularly drank instant coffee were asked to taste 14 different kinds of instant coffee products in major supermarkets available nationally.
The results found that Coles’ Fairtrade Organic Freeze Dried Coffee had scored the highest (74) per cent, among the reviewers, beating out household favourites like Moccona, Lavazza and Nescafe.
The jar of caffeinated granules will set you back only $4, which is less than a quarter of the price of the runner-up, Moccona’s Barista Reserve Smooth Espresso ($18 a jar or $10.29 per 100g).
In equal third place was three brands: Caffe Aurora’s Medaglia D’oro Italian Style Freeze Dried Coffee, Nature’s Cuppa Organic Coffee, and Nescafe Gold Original 5.
