Say goodbye to every well-intentioned, health-related new year’s resolution you made, and get ready for the dessert to end all desserts – deep fried Viennetta.

For those who grew up in the 80s and 90s, Viennetta was the ‘it’ home dessert. If your parents hosted a dinner party, or it was someone’s birthday, that delicious log of chocolate and rippled layers of vanilla ice-cream would be proudly placed in the centre of the table. And just like ad said, one slice was never enough.

Viennetta

Having just celebrated its 40th birthday (with the launch of a Birthday Cake flavour no less) Viennetta is still a nostalgic favourite for Aussie families. But if you’re keen for a whole new twist on this dessert delight – here’s one we never saw coming.

Boutique burger franchise Milky Lane has just added deep fried Viennetta to its menu, and we’re not mad about it.

Known for its burgers, cocktails, thickshakes and desserts, Milky Lane’s new deep fried Viennetta dessert is one of the most indulgent things on the menu. And that’s saying something!

“Vienetta is etched into our brains as the delicious log of ice cream that mum would hide in the freezer for special occasions or birthdays and THIS is EXACTLY what I want for my adult birthday now I can decide my own calorie intake,” Milk Lane wrote in a social media post.

“We took your childhood fave and in Milky fashion, gave it some extra lovin’, some added crunch and a whole lotta flavour.”

For those who love deep fried ice cream, this is set to take things to a whole new level.

Milk Lane has stores in NSW (Parramatta, Terrigal, Gregory Hills, Crows Nest and Newcastle), Queensland (Surfers Paradise, and Newstead), Canberra and Elizabeth Quay in WA.

  • Wow! I love deep fried ice cream and this sounds so decadent I’d have to give it a try. It’d be very filling with the coating but I’m down for sure to try this. I have a terrible sweet tooth. Sounds yummo!

  • I never liked Vienettas when I was a child. I don’t mind them so much now but there are definitely other ice creams I would choose over this one.
Milky Lane is also one very exxy restaurant! Their burgers are a bit insane with a price tag to match with not much appeal taste wise. Give me a BL Burger any day!

  • Oooh, I never tried deep fried ice cream. I remember when I was a kid and visited my grandmother there was always Viennetta as dessert.
