Hello!

We are planning a family holiday to Fiji, first time overseas for the kids, 10 and 3. Can anyone recommend a great place for kids and Mum’s and Dads to enjoy their time.

  • Never been to Fiji so I have no idea. I have heard it is a beautiful calm tranquil place to visit

  • Fiji is a family friendly place! :)

  • There are so many wonderful places to stay in Fiji – a travel agent can get some terrific deals.

  • I’ve been 5 times now (4 with the kids). I’d recommend you stay somewhere in Denaru (close to airport and to the marina). We’ve been to Radisson Blu and Sofitel. Both were great but think I preferred Radisson due to the shade sails over the pool. It’s quite warm so that provided some shade. Another tip. Food/snacks at the resort are expensive. Get a private car transfer from the airport and get the driver to stop at a local supermarket on your way to the resort. Stock up on fruit, water etc…

  • i would love to be in fiji right now!

  • i would love to go to fiji especially with the kids

  • We want to fiji for our honeymoon and loved it, so want to go back again with the kids. Great advice !! Sofitel Denarau is sounding good

  • we are looking at fiji next year too but have older children – 13 and 11. sounds like there are plenty of options

  • I am an owner with Wyndham and that’s where I stayed with my 2 boys who were 2 & 4 at the time. They loved kids club and I’m pretty sure most hotels have these but sometimes they are worth it. The ocean is quite warm which is not what I was expecting. if you stay anywhere on denarau Island they have a shuttle bus that cost like $6 Fiji dollars for a day trip which take s you to all the resorts and it’s hop on and hop off. My boys liked it to get out of the hotel for a bit to see the sights.
Make good friends with a cab driver because unless you hire a car it’s the next quickest way to get where you want to go anywhere else. I had a fabulous driver who took my sons and I into Nadi to do grocery shopping and he stayed with us the whole time helped with picking fresh fruit and where to buy what we needed. we were out for half the day with the one driver and he only wanted to charge me $20 so I paid him $40 for all the trouble he went too. After that anywhere I needed to go he was the first cab driver to take us anywhere we needed to go and didn’t expect the high tips all the time. Some hotels have the fire show included which I think was well worth it it was very spectacular. I was waiting for one of them to set fire to a shade sail they came that close!
There are several day cruises to the Fiji islands you can go on but can get a bit expensive but next time I go I will do one I missed out last time.
But just lay back and enjoy it it’s beautiful the best way to enjoy it is to do things spur of the moment.
    And have your camera Handy!!

  • We loved Fiji! There are some great resorts in Denaurau Island, we stayed at Raddison Blu and they have a kids club. You can walk around the back of the Resorts to The Sheraton. The Westin had a great fire show after Sunset that we loved. Can be expensive at the resorts though, we explored the local food in Nandi and it was so much cheaper.

  • Never been, friend is a travel agent and takes her family there a lot, stays at one of the more expensive resorts – hope you all have a great time.

  • Plantation Island. Has kids club and lots of kids activities every day – also nanny service so you can go for a kid free dinner at the adults only restaurant at the resort next door and plently of activities for the whole family! Enjoy!

  • Plantation Island, separate island off the Mainland is amazing perfect for that age group, they will love it, with 3 pools, inflatable water park in the Lagoon. Have been there 3 times and would not stay anywhere else. Have stayed on the Mainland, but once you have been there you will never stay on the Mainland again. Kids under 12 get to stay & play free.

  • We have been 4x the latest March this year. My kids are 13/11. We first went in 2014 on our way back from Disneyland. ( and hey loved Disneyland but live fiji the most!!!!) We stay at Sofitel Denarau island – it is superb!!! I can’t recommend highly enough! Fiji LOVE chn !!!! This year we also went with my nephews aged 4:7 and 7 months and my nephew wanted me to ask ask ” Fiji if we could stay there forever!!!” My children have been to Thailand, America and fiji x4 and they still love it. They could honestly live there ! Plenty to do for the different ages … My nephew loved kids club …and it was great for him to rest for an hr or so from hot sun… ( was no need for him to go but he loved it!!! ) and staff also besotted with babies and my younger nephew loved all the attention! Fly to Nadi – short trip from airport – so child friendly – kids under 12 stay and eat free. If you purchase an advantage plus card adults are buy one get one free…. Resort is divine – new water park across the rd kids loved !!! Golf club just down the rd – one pizza will feed whole family with leftovers .. You can take food with you – snacks etc or just ask your driver to stop at one of the big supermarkets on your way in – we bought lots of drink and we just restocked our fridge … You can get some good deals including breakfast … We LOVE fiji! Staff especially activity staff are fantastic!!! Enjoy whatever you decide! Family time is precious! If you go take the whales tail tour it’s an awesome day out! Well worth the money!

  • The Naviti is awesome. Get the all inclusive which is all you can eat and drink. Such a lifesaver and no need to budget for food and drink.
The Outrigger is nice too but I spent the week worrying about the food and drink tab at the end. Kids are worshipped so they’ll have a blast!!
