Hello!

My eldest is 11 and is a keen reader, but I want to make sure that the books she reads are age appropriate. Does anyone have any suggestions for what books I could get her?

  • Paul Jennings, Anyd Griffiths, The Saddle Club, The Babysitters Club, The Hunger Games, Enid Blyton, Harry Potter

  • At 11 years of age I loved The Baby Sitters Club series, The Baby Sitters Little Sister series, The Sweet Valley Junior series, The Sweet Valley High series, Pony Pal series, The Saddle Club series, Nancy Drew & the Mary-Kate & Ashley books.
Reading is a great hobby & I hope your daughter continues her love of reading for many years to come.

  • My son looooves andy griffiths. Theres a whole heap of books. Also horrible histories is another hit

  • I loved “Little Women” and the Anne of Green Gables set at that age. Also Little House on the Prairie series

  • Depends on interests; get recommendations from your local library.

  • go to a book store or online book shop and do a search for that age group

  • How about the Classic Enid blyton books?

  • there are some good comments here

  • Personally I just read everything by that age lol but avoid most of the vampire novels

  • I would order on FISHPOND. They give reviews and age recommendations on their books. Great variety and free shipping on most!

  • I was an avid reader and at that age used to read Jane Austen and the Bronte Sisters. I liked Little Women.

  • I loved sweet valley high books but it depends on your boundries, these seemed ok to me. Prop stay away from Jackie Collins for a few years.

  • Depends on her level of understanding , within reason let her test her boundaries. You maybe surprized,

  • My daughters were reading the Mary Kate and Ashley books at that age.
I find Big W have a great book department and everything is broken up into age sections which is very helpful.

  • When I was 11 I was reading Enid Blyton series… But I grew up in Malaysia and we are exposed to English language a lot later…guess Enid B is too easy for westerners this age?
