Hello!

My 6 year old son has been diagnosed with pinhole phimosis and the Dr has said that he will need a circumcision. I have also seen another Dr who told me the same thing. It seems like such a drastic thing to do. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with phimosis and didn’t have to have a circumcision? I really want to be 100% sure that it really needs to be done, would obviously rather not have to do it. Thanks a lot :)

  • Getting a third professional opinion seems worthwhile.

  • there are some good comments here

  • my nephew had this problem . they decided not to cirmumsise . But then he hit 9 and had to get it done anyway. I think this is better to get done while his young. Its quite embarasing when they get older.

  • What have you decided to do?

  • It’s tough being a mummy sometimes, what a tough situation!

  • Ive never heard of this either…

  • If it were me I would get a third opinion (like the decider) and do as much research online – but in the end if it is what needs to be done then I’d have to suck it up and have it done.

  • Never heard of it before but hope you manged to get some useful advice.

  • What did you end up deciding?

  • You could always seek more opinions from another doctor.

  • If you’re really hesitant to get it done maybe get a third opinion, but it really seems like there may be no other option

  • Sounds like its something that u need to do

  • poor little man, good luck

  • If circumcision will prevent the problem from reappearing id go ith it. A few seconds pain to prevent hours of pain in the long run- I know what I’d choose!

  • My boys are both done. They where fine. In the long run if it helps the child then do it. Better than reoccurring pain for the rest of their life. Get it over and done with. The there is no more worries.

  • My son the exact thing but was much younger. I had him circumcised and we have never looked back. I felt really bad about it especially when they put him to sleep but he was up and running after he had it. He was in more pain before having it.

  • have you seen a GP or a specialist?

  • One of my son’s had to have a circumcision at 2 and recovered very quickly without any issue.

I would definitely try using the cream first and see if that works, but if it doesn’t, the sooner to get a circumcision the better x
