Hello!

We live in Brisbane and are getting married next year and are on a strict budget, this will be our first holiday ever without family or children and we are really sticking to a budget ($2,000 in total incl. flights if we can) as we are going to NZ the following year for another wedding and turning that into a family holiday with both our children.

I’m just looking for suggestions other than the usual “go to sydney” or “go to melb” kind of thing.

  • Perhaps a stay on one of the Whitsunday islands?

  • A glamping honeymoon might work.

  • Drive. Jump in your car and drive. No plans, see where the day takes you. Stop here if you really like it or move on asap if you’re not overly impressed

  • Go rural, hire a cabin in a caravan park, close to a river or the ocean or in the bushland, whichever you prefer

  • A cruise? You can get excellent cruise sales!!

  • Gold Coast on a package? Have you looked at family packaged holidays?

  • I’m reading this post a bit late, but I would have suggested a cruise.

  • Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
Find things you & your hubby to be both enjoy & try finding a place around that.
For example, fishing – go to a secluded fishing area or a nice beach.
luxury & pampering – a day spa or weekend retreat.

Australia has so many wonderful places to choose from.
Each state has many wonderful things to offer you really do have to choose from things that interest you & wether you want an active honeymoon or a relaxing one.
Congratulations again & I hope you find something memorable.

  • Hire a campervan, or pitch a tent, and drive! Just drive where ever you choose to when you wake up in the morning

  • Could go to a place that has day spas and go away for the weekend.
Not sure what’s up brissy way..
But here we have a place called daylesford it’s a cute little country town that has plenty of day spas, mineral water hot springs, antique shops, farmers markers.

  • WA glam camping – there are some uber secluded options with the most incredible views… from your bed >…

  • What about Kangaroo island in SA, therecare several places you can rent cabins or camp and there is plenty of cheap/beautiful scenery

  • Hello, congrats on your upcoming wedding! I would suggest Whitsundays but might be a bit expensive. Given you are in Bris – there are so many beautiful Islands nearby, or Port Douglas, I’ve heard Tangalooma is nice. Is it a summer or winter wedding? I prefer beaches and coastal areas but you might like Blue Mountains in winter or the snow

  • i WOULD GO TO BYRON BAY,BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO STAY,
LOTS OF VARIETY AND BE-SURE YOU GO ON MARKET DAY
AS AT THE CLOSE NAKED CYCLISTS DO A DISPLAY!
ALL AGES YOUNG AND OLD A FUN SIGHT TO BEHOLD
PHOTO BELOW TAKEN THERE,MAGIC MEMORIES BE BOLD

  • Pullman Sea Temple in Port Douglas. The hotel itself is beautiful, swim up to your own room, spas and massages and great food. Shuttle to Cairns and the waterfront and then out to the reef. The hotel is spread out and it can be quite intimate. Enjot!

  • Maybe a romantic and secluded cottage.

  • What about Uluru? It’s such a romantic place!

  • How about the barrossa valley if you are both wine lovers

  • We actually went to Canberra for our Honeymoon people thought we were crazy but to tell you the truth it was amazing as it was Floridade time and there was surprising so much to do in Canberra

  • I think a cruise is a great idea see what ones are going nearby and what is included. and check for package deals through travel agents or flight centre if you need to stick to a budget.
