Hello!

My son has so much Lego and I find that it’s everywhere. Any tips for organizing and storing it effectively?

  • We had it in a big storage container with lid and wheels.

  • Buy ones of those cube units and get the baskets that fit in them to store all loose Lego pieces or use the shelves to display them.

  • As a kid, mum used to keep it in old ice cream containers. My kids never had it

  • Pull out draws under the bed.

  • I use the big plastic storage containers, the ones with lids and wheels. Throw it all in there, whack on the lid and slide it under the bed

  • We have plastic storage containers but I’m going to sew a mat with a draw string. I have seen them on Pinterest… If you have any sewing skills, they seem pretty simple

  • I have a huge lego mat that has a draw cord on it so when you want to pack it up you just pull the cord and it folds everything up into a bag. Its great. I got it from ‘Little Rainbow Boutique’ on facebook for $30. Best investment ever

  • I store lego in the vacuum! just joking. Lego stored in a big pillowcase!

  • My son is a lego lover. What i did was sew a storage bag and when its laid out its a lego playmat. When kids finish playing all lego must be back on the mat and its just a matter of pulling the draw string. You can buy them but i just looked on pintrest for the pattern and went from there. It was simple enough for me who isnt the best at sewing lol. With all the building instructions I went to officeworks and got a folder the ones where you can add a slip in the spine front and back so i can personlise it its a 3 ring one and you can get different colours. I also got some heavy duty sleves for it and it sits on his book shelf neatly.

  • Place your LEGOs in the containers. When you’re sorting your pieces in your bins, you don’t want to overload them or it will be difficult to find pieces when you’re working on a project. Having the LEGOs in a single layer in each bin is ideal because it makes it easier to see all of the pieces.

  • my boys have way too much lego (although it is one thing I’m happy to still play with) but we store it in the play room on a queen size doona cover. They can be bunched up in the doona to be moved and spread out to be played with.

  • I disguise my kids toys in the living room by storing them in modern wicker baskets. I have a large one at the bottom and a smaller one on top. They are stacked and look lovely. Purchased from Target so we’re quite affordable. I’m not a fan of the look of the plastic storage containers. It’s ok for under the bed, but in the living area, I like the storage to match the rest of the house.

  • You can buy some plastic drawers and divide things up (ie figures in one and small pieces in another etc.) these drawers sit on top of each other so do not take up much room – I think there are 3 or 4 drawers in the one piece..

  • My son has lots of Lego also, we use a variety of storage containers

  • which ever suggestion you choose make it one which is easy for your child to put it all away quickly so they will do it and not you!

  • I found this photo and have kept it for when my kids are bigger

  • My son has a bunk bed, with storage space underneath. So we have it in storage tubs under his bed. Unfortunatley though, it now seems to be out of sight, out of mind, and he doesnt play with it as much as he used too

  • Ugh, me too! I’ve used a few of these suggestions but find they still end up everywhere!!

  • Trolley bins or I’ve utilised a coffee table with draws. Storage boxes on wheels or library bags. Hope this info is happy.

  • At yoys r us or at some online store you can but a tub that basically looks like a big lego block.. and if you need more than one they sit nicely on top of each other.. I purchased a couple for my kids
