  • Baking Soda sprinkled on can lift stains, literally absorb up with the baking soda. But that’s like cat urine when it damp or juice. It’s down in the fibres and baking Sosa in ten minutes left will lift it up. If it’s set ink have you just tried if it’s not too big a stain colouring the carpet with a similar colour fine paint tip. So if it’s a brown shag pile and the texta is bright red go over it in a similar shade of brown as the carpet. More a “trick” then stain remover y’know. Like colouring in black boots with wear mark with black permanent marker. From afar it’s a match!!

  • I have a steam cleaner that works well on stubborn stains. I’ve also tried bicarb mixed with white vinegar. Massage into stain, leave 10 mins and sponge out with warm water. Patch test on your carpet first

  • Some great tips here especially for texta marks which is so hard to remove!

  • I’ve tried napisan but found that the vinegar solution worked best for us.

  • Im am going to try some of these ideas i have a stain on the carpet which i think is a melted icypole thank you for posting this question…

  • For removing Texta – mix 2 cups of warm water, one tablespoon of white vinegar and one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid in a bowl, and gently dab the solution onto the texta mark. Continue until the texta disappears, then sponge over with some plain water.
Unfortunately, Cordial is a little tougher to remove, especially if you don’t get to it quickly enough! Try using a solution of half a cup white vinegar and cold water to sponge the stain. Don’t rub the stain, use a dabbing motion. Then, sprinkle on a thick layer of bicarb soda – place paper towels on top and press gently to begin to soak up the moisture.
    Good luck!

  • To get oil out of carpet gently rub salt into the stain leave for 2 hours and vacuum, if stain persists do it again.

  • Good tips from the community. I like to use bicarb – good for lifting stains.

  • Try white vinegar.

  • I use dish water soap and hot boiling water, sunlight soap and hot boiling water, nappysan and bicarb as well and when that doesn’t work I use eucalyptus oil or hydrogen peroxide (diluted). Also the quicker you’re with the stain removal the more change you have to get it out…don’t leave it sitting too long

  • I use napisan and the wet n dry vac. Works for anything except those few things that are just impossible. Like sensory gum….dont ever get that in your carpet lol. Its stays there for life.

  • I’m glad it’s working! Oh dear lol, hopefully dishwashing liquid and white vinegar can remove chocolate also! :)

  • I just tried the liquid detergent and vinegar and its actually removing red cordial from my beige carpet :) yay! Thanks for the ideas however while I was rubbing the stain like a crazy woman I failed to see my sons plate of chocolate toast and have a new stain to remove from my pants and the carpet lol can’t win it all :)

  • Saturate the stain with warm water, massage bicarb of soda and dish washing liquid into the stain. Leave for an hour. Mop out excess water. Leave to dry and vacuum as usual

  • Did you add white vinegar to the dishwashing liquid solution?

I have heard that hairspray can work also, keep spraying it on and dabbing it off until you see the texta lifting.
Fingernail polish remover or metho may work also.

  • Eucalyptus oil is great for stain removal – lots of uses for cleaning etc also. Check out instructions on a bottle found in supermarket medicinal aisle
