I had no success training one older then six months when I was a teenager. Would be interested to hear of any tips or tricks as well

Just persevere, start by just getting him used to his hand in the cage and then hold food out until he starts to eat it. eventually he will sit on your hand

Any chance of a progress report? I gave a friends son a parrot I had bred, it was a year old and aviary bred but this kid managed to tame this bird like nothing I have ever seen before! it is possible! and its also very rewarding

Its possible, but it will take alot of time and dedication and patience.

You are going to have to spend a lot of time with him and earn his trust. One thing! to ALWAYS remember. Birds are really smart and have a very good memory. You have to give him a reason to want to come to you. Start with talking to him in the cage and getting trust. Once you have established a bond try putting your hand in the cage. Rest hand on perch and don’t move it. Talk to him like normal. Wait for him to approach your hand before asking him to jump on. Do this over and over til you have trust. Then when he starts jumping on your hand in the cage. Slowly move your hand out With him on it. Will take alot of patience and time spent sitting and talking to gain trust. Birds wil also pick their owners. So who eva gains this trust will have it foreva
. I have had lots of birds. Time spent is the only way. But the end result is worth the effort.

It can be done but it will take time and patience! bribery and routine is the best way to a birds heart. If you are concerned about him flying away just clip his wings, this is perfectly humane just be careful he never gets into a situation he needs to be able to fly away from!

My sister trained her budgie to say many words. Just talking to them in a soft voice and repeating the same word over and over again is a good way to start.
