My daughter is the same, I held of ballet until this year when she turns four to try and discourage the tip toe walking. She has been to a podiatrist and has inserts and exercises but as soon as she is out of the shoes she is back to tip toe walking. Best of luck with everything.

Definitely see a physio. They will be able to give you the specialist advice not the GP.

Sorry, she’s 3.5yo. She isn’t doing ballet but is starting dancing in a few weeks. I have an appointment with our Dr soon, I’ll mention it to him again and see what he says. My friend mentioned somewhere to me today that specialises in kids podiatry so will check that out too.

I would take her to a pediatric physio and have her assessed.

You don’t mention how old your daughter is and whether she actually does ballet or not.
Having a relative’s child who has similar foot problems -she is also classed as flat footed as she started to tend to walk on the side of her foot, she was also referred to a podiatrist. The sooner you act the better to prevent ongoing foot and other problems. In some cases it can weaken the ankles.

Maybe visit a physiotherapist for reassurance and peace of mind. They will be able to assess and advise you on this issue.

My 5 year old son was doing this. It wasnt until they picked up on it when he was at 4 yr old kinder that I knew it was a problem. They referred him to a paediatric physio. She determined the incline of his foot due to the toe walking and set some easy exercises for him as well as gave him insoles and this corrected the problem. It only took about 3 months for the issue to be resolved.

I know others who have done this and is a problem – keep an eye on her and see a podiatrist or other specialist if it becomes more regular.
