Art activities in nature - Mouths of Mums

Hello!

Hi everyone! New member here, looking for some activities you like to do with your child that involve nature and art together. My kids love creating things out of fallen leaves, flowers and sticks, we’ve built some forts out of sticks and other things and often go on a colour walk using an egg carton to gather items of all colours of the rainbow! Wondering if you have any other ideas.

  • We have a little creek that always gets filled up post winter and we head down there in our gumboots and jump in the water. It is a great way to get out and explore nature. It is full of rocks and sticks etc and get the kids minds into creativity mode. We enjoy it, it is always lots of fun especially if some of the other local kids come join in too.

  • My kids love picking up pebbles from the riverbank. The smoother the better then we wash them and dry them and paint them in bright colours. We have made them look like turtles, lady beetles, funny faces, animal faces, fruit like strawberries and kiwi fruit and watermelons. They make great gifts for Dad for Fathers Day and Mum for Mothers Day. Nan and Pop love the bigger stones for decorating their garden. They make great paper weights. We love gathering these pebbles on weekends away and the kids remember where they gathered their favourite stones.
