Hello!

Would love my little one to start eating what the rest of the family eats. What is a normal age?

  • For me around 6 months.
Even at 4 months I was giving both bubs a taste. I would mash everything finely with a fork and they loved all of the different flavours they got to experience.

  • my daughter started around 1 year old. i think it came down to she had the teeth and interest in what we were eating

  • 6 months!! Look up baby led weaning, such an amazing concept! I wish id stuck to it with my first, maybe he wouldnt be so fussy!

  • I began to give family meals a little at around about 7 months. Solids began at 6 months.

  • we started giving our son finger food he could manage from the meals we were eating when he was 6-7 months old

  • From the time my kids started to eat solids I gave them the same as what we were eating I just modified it a little so it was easier for them to eat. I used the same vegies we were having just mashed them together. Pasta was always something they had usually penne or shells or any shapes that looked fun.

  • my 7 month old already chews some solids, like pasta, meat, chips

  • My son started to eat family foods around 8mo we just left out any salt and puréed/mashed his foods but we didn’t do baby led weaning so I suppose that might make a difference

  • As soon as my son started on solids he has had food that the family has.

  • From before 6 months of age. I gave her safe versions of what we were eating, but mostly in finger food form rather than pureed. She much prefers to feed herself than accept anything on a spoon from us!

  • I have started since both our kids hit 6 months. I just blend everything together. Add a little milk or formula to make it a little runnier when they were just starting to eat it and once they got the gist of eating food I would slowly reduce the wetness of the puree. We are now having dinner at the same time at the dinner table. Such a lovely thing to enjoy :) Good Luck.

  • My daughter started eating many of the same foods as us by 12 months, and by about 18 months there were no special meals prepared.

  • If the little is following you cutery when you eating. Then you start baby cereal form the supermarket
