Hello!

My son is 2 in 12 days and has started not wanting a sleep every second day at daycare. When we pick him up he’s exhausted and it’s a very tiring time giving him dinner and bath. He’s a brilliant sleeper normally so maybe he’s growing out of it? Would love to know what other mums did.

  • Let him lead on this one. At least its still happening every second day.

  • go by his cue. he will still be tired but is mentally growing and learning and doesn’t want to miss out

  • DD was around 2 years old.

  • For us we always put them to bed for a quiet time, they stop day sleeps around 3

  • If he doesn’t want to sleep make sure he has quiet time:)

  • I think they need a sleep if they are going to get exhausted and grumpy! Even if its just half hour.

  • Ours always stopped their day time sleep before 2, if they are tired they will go and sleep themselves from around the 18 months

  • If he doesn’t want to sleep, try getting him to just have “quiet time”, with a book. Chances are he will still fall asleep and have a nap anyway.

  • Get him to have quiet time reading or book or something of that kind at daycare.

  • Get them to give him quiet time instead of sleep time at daycare so his body gets used to it sleeping during the day, if he has one day off, then on, then off he is not going to get into a routine and will make him tired and cranky. Being tired also effects their learning and concentration so try getting him to bed early and stop him napping during the day.

  • oh no, mummy needs that daytime sleep time

  • what did you end up doing?

  • Hope you managed to find what you were after.

  • What did you end up doing?

  • They will let you know when they don’t want a sleep, mine actually stopped by age 3 from having an afternoon sleep

  • How have you gone? Mine stopped have day sleeps around the age of 2.

  • Each child is different, my daughter stopped having then just after she turned one.

  • I never forced mine to have a day time sleep but quiet time was a must. Every child is different though

  • even if they dont have a sleep, have a quiet time at the same time each day- this could really help

  • I think 2 is a good age. Every child is different.
