Hello!

Hi our children turn 7 and 10 in a few weeks and we are having 2 separate birthday parties but on the same day. Does anyone have any party games they have used, that went down well, especially for the 10 year old boy, and a 7 year old girl. We do not want to pay for someone, just having an old fashion party like when we were young. Thanks in advance!

  • Piñata are always popular. If you have the time, get creative and make your own, they’re cheaper and outlast more hits then shop bought ones. Another one I saw recently……a bowl of Fruit Loops (the cereal) 2 kids each with a drinking straw. Aim of the game is to get as many fruit loops out of tge bowl using the straw within a time limit. It’s quite funny to watch

  • How did the joint party go?

  • Pass the parcel. Pin the tail on the donkey. A piñata. Twister. Bobbing for apples. Have a look on Google, there’s lots of fun games to be found on there

  • What about Pin the tail on the donkey? Pass the parcel? Music chairs? Pass the balloon (between the knees)

  • All the old fashion games are the way to go! Get the boys some water pistols and tell them to bring there togs they can just wet each other, boys love that. Girls too

  • We had the kids throw waterbombs at a target from behind a line, kids all loved it (ages 2 – 13) and even some grown ups couldnt resist. Party was in April, so not the warmest, but still a bit hit!

  • thanks for the great ideas.

  • There are some great suggestions below! I hope the party went well.

  • there are some good comments here

  • hang donuts from the clothes line and get the kids to eat them with their hands behind their backs

  • Have some plain crowns and have the kids decorate them with stick on sticker and other bits and pieces, for the girls they could decortate fairy wands.

  • Treasure hunts are good. Also a one of those things you fill with lollites and everyone hits it. For the girls maybe have cupcakes and let them decorate their own.

  • The block of chocolate game… kids sit in a circle and roll a dice. If they roll a six, they go to the middle of the group and put on gloves and sunglasses (or whatever two/three items you choose) and they have to cut the block of chocolate with a plastic knife and fork and eat it. (one square at a time) They keep going until someone else rolls a six and tags in….

  • Musical Chairs, Musical Statues, Pin the nose or tail on …, pass the parcel, treasure/lollies hunt, Marshmallow chub-a-bunny

  • We put a bucket of water in the middle of the children and each child gets a sponge and a plastic cup. The plastic cups are put on a table and then the children have to fill their cups up from the bucket of water using nothing but their sponges. First cup to overflow wins. It’s great for little kids and grown ups alike (but it needs to be HOT outside!).

  • The chocolate game. Block of chocolate in the centre of kids sitting in a circle and a box of dress ups. To get to sample some yummy chocolate kids will need to roll a 6 on a dice they then need to put on some dress up items go around the circle and go into the middle and eat a piece of chocolate until someone else rolls a 6 and enters the circle.

  • Pass the parcel, treasure hunts, pinata, last year I got my daughter a pin the horn on the unicorn of eBay, the kids loved that, musical chairs

  • Our boy is turning 1 next week and we care doing a circus theme. Im 6 months along with our second so I dont have the time or money to do a big party. My dad has made a few games for us including toss the bean bag into the hole and gluing bcjets onto a board and then getting the kids to throw the balls into the buckets and the ring toss game. I was going to do a game with ducks in water but that raises too many saftey issues with water and kids. Also a jumping castle that my brother brought from ebay will be up

  • we do the normal pass the parcel pin the tail on the donkey musical chairs and statues, BUT for the older ones we do the chocolate game with a knife and fork who rolls the six gets to chop iu a square of choc with a knife and fork and eat until a six is rolled and so on, also pinyata and the donut game this can also be played with pineapple rings tied up to string and the first to eat it off with only touching with mouth is the winner space out along a deck so each child has one each, also wii sing is good have a play off for older kids

  • All the usual games are fun like pass the parcel, musical chairs/statues, pin the tail on the donkey, etc but some cool ones are marco polo using blindfolds, guess the amount of lollies in the lolly jar and apple bobbing etc
