  • Oh i luck some of these answers on here! As a mother with girls and one almost turning 9, she loves all things girly at the moment but is out of that more babyish toy phase of wanting toys. I find buying her cute stationary and things she can use more useful as she will always go back to them.

  • Squsihmallows are insanely popular right now. I personally think you can never go wrong with books. Lego is popular with a lot of kids. Maybe some pretty hair gear? And I find that various arts and crafts things – both kits and what you might call raw supplies – are often very welcome.

  • For a 9-year-old, some great gift ideas could be craft kits, jewelry-making sets, a cool diary with fun pens, a science experiment kit, or a beginner coding toy if she’s into tech. If she loves reading, a book series like The Babysitters Club or Harry Potter might be a hit! You could also go for something active like roller skates, a skipping rope, or a cute backpack. Experience gifts like movie tickets, a zoo pass, or a fun outing together are also great. Hope she has an amazing birthday!

  • Another idea for a gift is a special outing. A special outing can be so lovely and particularly if it is a special outing to select a special present. It can be such fun to have an outing, having a morning tea at a cafe and then selecting a present. It can create a special and cherished memory that endures.

  • My daughter was into books at that age so she often received bookshop vouchers and could choose a book she liked.

  • I would give her something like a bracelet or necklace or ring that she can wear and also keep as a memory from you. I still to this day have a necklace that my Grandmother gave me when I was about 10 years old and I am now 64 years old so memories are special

  • When my daughter was around that age I bought her very first dresser vanity table with a little chair and put lights on the top of the mirror. She absolutely loved it and it gave her somewhere to organise her hair ties and headbands and it has 2 little draws for bits and bobs.

  • Like some others have said, arts and craft are usually what youngsters of this age like, but I always check with the youngster’s mum to see if there is something she would dearly love to have that her parents haven’t been able to get for her, and to make sure she doesn’t get the same present twice. She will love her grandma for being so thoughtful, too.

  • I agree it is always good to look to the interest of the person you want to gift something first. It may be good to simply ask as well and look to what she has already. My girls at that age likes craft stuff, stuff for their room, make-up, jewelry (earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings) lego, books, dress-up clothes and things like that

  • I always go with buying gifts that they are interested in and add to their hobbies. If an outdoors child, maybe an outdoor game or sporting item. If interested in books, maybe a visit to a bookstore together to choose a new book. It is a good idea to go with interests and write down possible gifts to go with the the interests.

  • Little girls like pampering so a manicure voucher maybe. A trip to the movies is always fun so tickets.
Spotlight always has great little craft kits available that most kids would enjoy. Cookie or cake making set with the decorating tools. Things like that you can make special and do together.

  • If you are able to do something together, that would be a fab option. Go to the movies, get a sweet treat, let her pick out a toy, make a day of it. If your looking for a tangible gift, think of what her interests are and go from there. If she’s artsy, update her craft box. If she likes video games, ask her parents what console she has and what game she might like. Is she a little chef, some fun baking items could be a hit. Leave the clothes for her parents to pick out, it’s a reasonable gift but not fun for that age.

  • I think the most precious gift is memories. Ideally with her Grandma, but if you’re too far away in all about gifting experiences. They’re super into their tech, so smart watches a win. Anything she’s interested in, sports, drawing, etc. Otherwise look at local ‘Bounce’ places to where she lives and pay for her and her BFF to go! That’s best friend forever. Even the movies, ice skating, favourite sports game. All wins.

  • I would recommend an activity where you could do something with her. Take her to the movies, get her nails done, shop. Spend time with her and create some wonderful memories, something she will remember for a lifetime and can look back on and take some photos and have one framed to put on the wall.

  • Does she have any special intetests or favourite tv shows? Otherwise I find 9yo girls generally like arts and crafts or stationery. Smiggle is generally the perfect store to buy something a 9yo girl would love. Or maybe if you live close you could do an experience together? Ie the zoo or a wildlife park etc..
