  • scattegories and cleudo

  • Sequence is great for kids and adults and very easy to learn

  • Zoo Escape is fun- it’s a cooperative board game instead of a competitive one. We also like one called Trash Pandas, where you play raccoons trying to gather and eat rubbish.

  • Hangman is fun. I have one called Elefun, a plastic elephant with a long moveable trunk, blows butterflies out of its trunk and the kids have to catch them with little nets

  • uno flip is fabulous, connect four and boggle

  • We pick up board games when there are toy sales – teenagers like games with plenty of competition too.

  • People are often selling lots of cheap games at the markets and at garage sales.

  • Chess that’s all I can offer

  • The Game of Life isn’t too bad. Also Mastermind which I still enjoy.

  • We have lots of different games in our house so I can happily recommend a few. With the games you have already I’m going to give some card games as well as board games.

    Fluxx
This is a card game that has many different themes so you can choose one that suits your audience. It starts out simple with one rule – pick up one card from the pile and then play one card from your hand. As you play, the cards change the rules. Every game is different and even the way to win changes as you play.

    Tsuro
There are two versions here. The first edition in the red box is easiest to learn as the blue box adds additional challenges. This is a board game where players place patterned tiles to make a path for their token to follow. The trick is to stay on the board and at the same time, try to place tiles that make your opponent leave the board. Winner is the last one standing with bonus points for additional loops and crossing paths. If a path is placed in front of your token you have to move.

    Dixit
Dixit is a picture and imagination game that needs three or more players. One player chooses one word to describe the picture in their hand and the other players try to choose a card in their hand that could also be described with the same word. The chosen cards are shuffled together and the other players try to guess what card was the original picture. Points are awarded to either the challengers or the judge depending on the outcome.

    Code names
The Duet version is for two players and other versions require at least three players. Different themed versions again to suit your audience. In these games you are a spy trying to make contact with all of your team. The code master knows where your team is located but can only send you clues using one word and one number. Whatever you do… don’t find the assasin!

    Century
Again there are a few different versions. The Gollum edition is a stand alone but the others can be joined together as expansions to make the game larger. This is a trading and upgrading strategy game. Will you quickly end the game by collecting 5 low point cards or will you try to gain a high point collection and risk an opponent ending the game before you score at all.

    Unlock
If you have older tweens/teens. Unlock may also be a good option. There are many different themed versions. This is an escape room in a box and works alongside an app on your phone. Solve puzzles as you go which can either help or hinder your efforts to escape. Unlike other escape room games, these cards can be used over and over again. Other escape room games require you to destroy parts of the game as you progress making them single use.

If you need any more suggestions please let me know. Near my home we have a gaming restaurant where you can try board games over a meal before you buy them so the games we have at home are tried and tested ????

If you would like me to show you what’s in any of these boxes please let me know and I’ll take a pic of them opened/set up
