Hello!

I am down to 2 weeks until baby arrives and unbelievably bored! I cannot sleep because of heartburn and morning sickness and I am beyond sick of TV shows, reading books, etc. I have nothing else to google or organise. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

  • I loved jigsaw puzzles when I was pregnant with my first and couldn’t sleep. Kmart or Big W usually have some cheap options.

You could also try colouring, building Lego sets or puzzles like sudoku, crosswords or word search.

I was also guilty of online shopping, especially when breastfeeding in the middle of the night 😂

  • Puzzles like Wordle in your phone are good to pass the time. . I love a good jigsaw puzzle or something crafty. There are some great kits available at Spotlight. Going for a stroll and chatting to your neighbours would be good for you mind too. Fresh air does wonders.

  • I also suffered from this. I found having a book to read and a bit pad next to my bed very handy so I could write my thoughts out on paper to get them out of my head. I also found having a soothing tea before bed to help and putting lavender in my room also helpful. Ensure you are getting enough magnesium as this also aids in improving sleep.

  • Thank you ChiWen and Ellen. Previous pregnancies I have gotten up and done something useful but it is winter and I am just too sore this pregnancy. I will download word scapes to give it a go tonight. I had started reading a lot of forums and found shorter articles over books on my phone has been really good. I can relate to the tingling arms and legs. Last night I woke up and baby had further engaged so I had a very noticeable invert on the bottom of my tummy where I assume his neck is and an invert at each side of the top of my tummy. I am actually a little more comfortable so hopefully today will be a better day. Thank you again.

  • I loved wordscapes to distract my mind and found it quite positive. But to be honest when I can’t sleep I will leave the bed on a certain point and may start cooking / meal prepping or do something useful what I also. I loved to knit and crochet when I was pregnant and you can make some lovely baby items too.

  • Hi BlissfullyChaotic
I can totally relate to the weird dreams. Dreaming I was a Sims character was a very monotonous dream haha
I’m a little boring with my phone gaming. I enjoy Tsuki Odyssey. It’s cute, you can customize your tree house. But you can’t really sink a lot of time into it.
If you’re a bit of a thinker, my husband loves cryptic crosswords. If you look it up online you’ll find some sites. I also like the app ‘Find It Out’. It’s like where’s Wally/ I spy.
Hope you can find something to keep your attention. I would wake with tingling arms and legs from being so swollen so I empathize

  • Hi Chiwen,
Thank you for the suggestion. No unfortunately not into gaming. In the past gaming has resulted in my creating my own version in my dreams and ultimately sleeping less. I might look into word games on my phone. Do you play anything that isnt too strategy based on your phone?

  • It’s so hard sleeping those last few weeks! Are you into gaming at all? I loved Assassin’s Creed and The Sims on PS5. Kept me alert and entertained while still being able to stay cosy and comfortable on the couch. You can always see what games are on sale and if anything catches your fancy
