Camo or cabin? - Mouths of Mums

Hello!

We have been trying to book a night or two away for a while now but everything is just SO expensive and we aren’t well off financially right now. (Part of the reason we need a break lol) I’ve been thinking about camping. Do you camp or is it not your thing?
For those who camp, do you actually get to feel like you’ve had a break? I’m worried I’ll come home more tired than when I left!

  • I love camping but I think it depends on the type of person you are. If you’re easy going and want to connect with your kids I think it’s great and no devices. I like to camp near the beach as you can swim and also go fishing, have a fire on the beach and have s’mores. It also depends on how old your children are. But I don’t go for all the new age camping I like just the basics. It doesn’t have to be stressful. Just set up, sit back and chillax. But each to his own.

  • No camping for me and my family we love our Bathroom showers and convenience of your own toilet. I suggest that you look at holidaying about one hour away from home go reginal we did this staying in a Motel with a pool. You could also stay in a cabin in a caravan park. Go after school holidays go off-peak season as its so much cheaper. I took the kids out of school but had them read twice a day for a hour. Sightseeing and spending time with each-other is the best as the best memories are made!

  • Camping can safe a lot of money once you have purchased all the rather expensive equipment. For some camping is the most relaxing thing they can think off. For others camping is the most stressful and frustrating thing they can think off. Renting a cabin or a caravan can be a suitable alternative for those who don’t feel directly for camping and it would still be cheaper than renting a holiday house or hotel.
I remember when we were young, we would once and a while do a house swap with my aunt, who lived at the coast, close by the beach. That’s a good a cheaper option too.

  • It depends on what your interests are. Do you like camping and everything that goes along with it? How old are your kids, will they enjoy it?
For me, it’s a no to camping. Even if I didn’t have kids in the mix. My free time is fleeting, I’d rather be more comfortable and indulge than sleep on an air mattress and pack up everything afterwards.
Even if it’s a small cabin at a holiday park, I’ll take it.
My husband is keen on taking our eldest camping soon though, and I love that for them.
