  • When on holiday as a kid we used to do lots of things around the caravan parks, take our toys out to the playground or around the camp-site. we also had puzzle books like word searches etc and reading when it was raining.

  • Get them out of the house on bike/scooter rides, explore different parks and playgournds in the area, beach days, scavenger hunts, see if there are any free activities or events being run by your local council

  • Plan outings, they don’t need to cost anything. Head to the local park. Pack a picnic and head to the beach or riverfront. Museums are good and often have school holiday events. PCYC are child focused over the holidays. Have arts and crafts sessions at home. Play board games, get outside for ball games, have a mini olympics. Bike riding. So much to choose from

  • Read a book aloud taking turns; play along to some music; or dance to music; cook and prepare healthy food together; board games; make and edit a movie (if you have a camera with video); do competitions from student edge (or similar site!); go deliver junk mail and walk around the neighborhood together earning pocket money.

  • Drawing is always a hit at my house, or going out the bush fossicking for treasures! The sprinkler in the backyard is great for cooling off in the heat.

  • Be organised and get playdates sorted, treasure hunting in the backyard and make your own colouring in or puzzles.

  • build a fort,
get a sand and water table and that will keep them amused.

  • It is hard especially when its hot. Try baking, playing board games, getting them to help sort through old toys and craft activities.

  • -there are heaps of great craft ideas on this site
-go to the park for a walk or bike ride
-go for a nice picnic somewhere. bacon and egg sandwiches! yummo!
