I don’t have experience myself, but my sister home schooled their children when they lived in Mozambique.

We have definitely considered it. My only concerns would be my child not having friends.

My siblings were home schooled due to medical reasons & we found it to be a very beneficial experience!
They went through School Of Air & the staff were amazing! They were so supportive & so easy to get in contact with.
My mother’s education was completely different & she didn’t understand a lot of the work but the staff were always available to offer assistance. There is also the online classroom which was fantastic & the option to communicate with other online students.
There was also the benefit of a yearly visit to spend a day with the students in their homes, see their work space, & offer any hands on help.
I do strongly suggest looking into it because there are many benefits.
With so much bullying & peer pressure & school shootings many parents are turning to alternative options & home schooling is a great way for your children to learn at their own pace in a comforting environment.

I home schooled my son for a couple of years of high school. I loved it and I think he enjoyed it. I know his grades, especially English where he was lacking, went through the roof

i won’t do this because the things that i learnt or knew at school changes all the time. So my experience would be dated in regards to teaching my children. My kids would benefit from socialising with other kids and learning about everyone’s differences etc. Also i wouldn’t want to approach my children’s education with any bias. I think that you can still contribute and educate your children alongside the national curriculum so you will still benefit them with your knowledge. I want my children to grow up and be apart of the community and get to know people outside of my circle of friends.

There are many things that you learn from experience, not books.

I home schooled my son from the age of five his sisters were already at school I had done the same for them. They knew all their numbers up to 100 and beyond. All their sounds and alphabet and could read and tell stories. They could write neatly and when mine went to school their teachers thought these kids were well ahead of the class. I sent them to school to socialize. They just did the work the teacher put in front of them and when they came home they did their homework and then we would play games and have fun.
I took the kids out of school with the blessing of the head master as I was taking my three to museums and art exhibitions and zoo’s and rain forests and national parks and beaches and wild life parks. We would learn more outside the classroom that in! Our head master said if many more parents would do what I did we would have a lot of kids with so much more life-experiences. My kids would write stories and letters to the teacher telling them where they have been the day they were away from class and all their teachers loved this.

When I went to school we had a kid in the class who did part time school and part time homeschooling (private catholic primary school). They lived near by so we were neighborhood friends. They also went to homeschooling camps to socialise. It’s a real calling but if it suits you go for it 🙂 if the program you pick isn’t good, don’t be afraid to change even if it’s inconvenient.

Hi, I home schooled for nearly 2 yrs out of necessity (we were overseas), I had one who was a breeze- easily motivated, task oriented, clever, etc and one who although bright fought me at every turn. It was exhausting. I really enjoyed being around them all the time and missed them when they went back to regular school in Aus. We did not have a great experience with the program we had to use they were not very supportive. I was also trying to study, run a household and run a not for profit in a foreign country. So I think we were broken as much as the system. My advice would be- if you are going to use a school program ( like the Ace) then make sure there is lots of support and good systems, try not to be to busy. Go easy on yourselves. If it’s for the love of it and you can give your child/ children the attention they need- go for it.
