Hello!

Does anyone know of some kind of ducted heater ducts locks? My 3yo son insists on lifting them out of the floor and putting things down the vent… I’m worried something might get shoved down there & then cause a house fire!!

  • I’d ring a ducted heating manufacturer to find out if they know.

  • I have never heard of them but I am sure that in recent years something would be available, the other option which would be cheap and effective is cable ties, you may be able to secure them with them and then if you need to remove the vents simply cut them, cable ties can be trimmed so you would not even notice them, and little fingers cant undo them. I use them on heaps of things, they are almost as popular as duct tape in our home.

  • OH such a good question, especially since I have just moved to Melbourne and experiencing all this heating stuff for the first time.

  • Could you give a company that installs them a call and ask them? They’ll certainly have a few ideas.

  • u could try bunnings …..

  • Hope you managed to find what you were looking for.

  • They SHOULD be available. Hope you found something

  • did you end up finding anything?

  • Did you manage to get them from somewhere?

  • I thought some hardware shops (Bunnings) sold covers for them – worth asking.

  • i hope you ended up finding something

  • Hope you found the answer you were looking for.

  • Did you end up finding something for your ducted heater vents?

  • Good luck with finding some, I haven’t heard of them before.

  • Never heard of anything like this

  • I dont think there is anything specifically made for this, you should get a handyman to take a look as he might be able to secure it in some way.

  • A cou0ple of layers of ducted tape

  • As far as I know u can’t lock them

  • There’s some good solutions here, I hope you managed to solve the problem.

  • double sided foam mounting tape to secure them to the floor. You can also buy filters that will block them from putting small things down the middle. I searched for months and never found anything “official” on how to child proof those. The only suggestions where to gate them off which was impossible for us with our house layout.
