  • Lots of rest and fluids – hydrolite is great if they aren’t eating much and panadol is good for fever/aches and pains. Also a good multivitamin and or immune booster tablet can really help as can vitamin c and zinc. Plus lots of snuggles – my kids say hugs fix everything haha

  • Good old chicken soup works wonders for me!

  • For adults – hot lemon whisky drink (if you don’t/can’t drink alcohol use tea).
One shot of whisky, a few squeezes of lemon (or lemon juice), 2 teaspoons of sugar & boiling water in a mug. Drink as quickly as you can!
Rug up, jump in bed under lots of covers & sweat it out during your sleep.

Other than that, Vicks & Codral Relief (Mucus Cough & Cold works best)

    Hope you feel better soon.

  • Definitely olive leaf extract capsules and also sambucol. if taken early, they definitely make a difference and can be taken as a preventative too.

  • So I tried Vicks on the soles last night which I have a really good sleep, no coughing. This morning I’m still ill, been coughing all today. :(

  • I’m desperate to try anything, except the onion soup. I can’t stand onions.

  • Honey & lemon ‘tea’ then sleeping with lots of layers to sweat it out (though sometimes I just have the tea)
Vitamin c in it’s natural form (oranges & grapefruits, and of course, the lemon in the ‘tea’)
My grandma also used to crush up garlic & put it in our socks overnight

  • honey, lemon and chamomile tea – gargle salt, dose up on more vitamin c in foods such as oranges, lemons, pineapple, kiwi fruit etc.

  • I bought these sambucol (black elderberries) capsules with vit c and zinc and it actually reduces the severity and longevity of my colds. =) I take it now regularly too as an immunity thing. it works really well

  • This is probably the oddest answer you’ll hear in awhile, its one of those crazy don’t know why, maybe science hasn’t figured it out answers… but when i had a relentless cough and nothing worked i smeared a generous amount of vicks vapourub on the soles of my feet and placed socks over them to sleep overnight…(read somewhere) IT WORKS!

  • My mum when we were kids used to make onion syrup. It was yuck but worked !! At the first sign of a cold or flu, slice an onion in rings, roughly. Put in a bowl and pour some honey over it. Not heaps prob about a tablespoon. Cover with cling wrap and put in fridge over night. In. The morning there will be watery liquid in the bowl. Have a teaspoon or 2 a couple of times a day. Hope this helps x
