Should I get my car seats professionally installed? Or is it safe to do at home?

  • I initially got mine installed professionally, then i learnt how to do it. It’s amazing how often i have to take it out and reinstall, or when using a hire one being sure that it is fitted safely

  • We always get a new seat installed professionally for the first time, and take pointers from the installer on the car and seat best positioning. If we change cars or seats, we do it again. Occassionally the NRMA offers free installation services at local shopping centres, and we often take them up on the service to have our seats re fitted as after a while they can get out of place.

  • My partner installed ours. I wouldn’t trust myself to do it. If youre worried just get a professional to do it.

  • it’s fine to do it yourself even just get a baby shop or ambo to check

  • save yourself the heart ache and headache just pay someone to do it for peace of mind also.

  • It’s perfectly safe to do at home, but it can be tricky. We decided we felt safest getting them professionally installed.

  • If you are not confident, get them installed professionally. Accidents can happen and an incorrect installation could render the protection, that a baby seat offers the child, ineffective in the event of an accident.

  • I did mine at home with all my car seats but if you are unsure professionally done is the way to go. Better to be safe

  • You should get it installed professionally

  • Go for the professional, peace of mind.

  • If your unsure if you e installed it right Get a professional to do it

  • If you’re not confident to do it yourself then get it done professionally — personally we had ours done professionally and weren’t overly happy with them so my husband took them out and did them himself and they were much more secure!

  • I think an initial installation professionally. Then you can ensure you\’ve got the right equipment – belt extenders, seat belt buckle etc. I have a local service that come to your house to install. We changed from rearward to front facing ourselves.

  • I thin kprofessionally installed. I also want peace of mind and have had all our seats installed. I find when I did them myself they were still woblly

  • It is not worth compromising on safety. get it done professionally.

  • Yeah, if in doubt get it installed professionally. Some of the baby stores also do it if you’re finding it tough to get done. Go baby shopping while you wait!

  • I think that the fact that you are asking means that it is something that concerns you. Might be best to have them professionally installed.

  • My son is a mechanic & he is licenced to install baby car seats that should be anchored correctly.

  • If you’re nervous about it then perhaps getting a professional to do it will give you peace-of-mind. I’m a worry-wart so I had a professional do mine. I’ve since used hire cars and had to do it myself and, while it’s pretty easy, I still felt a little nervous about it all.

  • I did with my first child but not with subsequent children. It’s easy to do once you know how or get a friend to show you
