Hello!

What cheap craft activities are your favourite? My daughter loves doing so much craft but I don’t have a creative bone in my body. When I Google I get overwhelmed by the choices. I would love some easy and quick tips on what you do for craft ideas.

  • beading is always relaxing, creative and cn be easy or challenging if you so desire. Can make gifts for others like bracelets, book marks, key rings etc. Can also be relatively cheep too.

  • Indoor tent building with old sheets/towels and pillows/cushions. Over the couch or dining table, torches snacks and books.
Cubby house building with old boxes.
I used to have a cupboard with art supplies, empty boxes and containers etc that was used all the time for art projects

  • Also D.I.Y Puffy paint :) YouTube it!

  • Peg people, Handmade cards, wooden spoon people, pom pome, paper chains.

  • Buy some cheap wooden tags, these can be decorated for reusable Christmas tags, she can decorate as she pleases, paint texta, glitter etc.have fun

  • Sometimes I’d just challenge my kid with something like “make a robot out of what you can find in the recycling corner” …

  • Kmart has quite a few crafty things to choose from and can be budget friendly. Browse pinterest and YouTube for some ideas. Having somewhere to store these products can help with organisation. Much easier to find things to make if you know where things are, rather than 1 tub full that you have to sort through everytime.

  • I get a lot of out craft stuff from riot craft online they have awesome stuff and have some items for a couple of bucks I was able to fill up a massive art and craft box with one order of like $50

  • My kids love their local library, my daughter has found some great craft books. ie nature crafts, environmental crafts. has them thinking outside the box reusing home items in different ways. maybe visit your local library and sus out the kids craft book section!

  • Reject shop and red dot have great cheap craft sets. Like mosaic, shrinkies, gift tags, colour a bag etc etc

Also just a box of glue stick, pom poms, scrap card, paper, bits of ribbon, stickers, etc.and some old magazines and paper. Let her make her own stories or collages

  • You can get craft sets from kmart for cheap, especially after things like Christmas, Halloween, Easter and the like – big tubs go down to 50 cents.

  • A role of tape, glue, cardboard, paper & crayons! Let their minds get creative.

  • Keep it simple and don’t over think it. Almost anything can be used as craft play with some glue or paint. Plus it’s a great way to encourage imagination.
Play doh is always a huge favourite here.
Even simple things like changing up the environment – painting outdoors instead of in can make a difference

  • Anything that can be used to teach life lessons at the same time. –
I love making playdough or cloud dough it teaches the science of a change of matter state. Then all the moulding and make of things strengthens those little hand muscles ready for school.
I also love handing them sharpies to draw on plant pots and then growing things that you can use in your kitchen or give away to to grandparents etc

  • We always did a lot of recycle crafts, endless possibilities !
