Hello!

What chores do you have in place for your children particularly four year olds?. At the moment my son is just doing the recycling and occasionally watering his fruit and veggie patch. I’m wanting to add more tasks for him to complete before screen time.

  • My daughter helps collect the mail and empty the dishwasher (not the cutlery section with knives). Now that it’s warming up in summer she is wanting to help my husband wash the car

  • I have a reward chart for my daughter and every time she helps me with a chore she gets to put a star on the chart and at the end of the week she gets to pick out a small toy from the bag of goodies. I get her to help me put away her clothes, put her dirty dishes in the dishwasher and keep her play room tidy.

  • My daughter helps with gardening

  • Maybe helping with meals by setting the table or getting veggies out of the fridge for you. Feeding pets. Tidying his room

  • Simple tasks while your doing it, feeding animals, putting things away, making bed etc

  • I think encouraging children of that age to engage in age appropriate ways for all chores helps to build life long skills.
Tidying up their play area, watering the garden, setting the table are all easy things that could be incorporated into more formal chores.

  • My son helps me water the vegetable garden. I got him a small kids broom to help outdoors. Helps me with dinner. Helps with vacuuming the rug. He always loves getting involved.

  • oh wow I now feel like a bad mum for spoiling my kids too much I never expected them to do any household chores at that age I just encouraged them to write and read

  • My 4 year old grandson makes his bed of course not perfect helps with dinner dishes and tries vaccuming as chores

  • Simple tasks such as putting worn clothes to the laundry basket, putting their clean clothes away, tidying up their room. Just general everyday tasks to help them in the future.

  • I think at that age they can with
Loading and unloading the washing machine
Brushing the floor with broom / dust pan
dusting / wiping cupboard with a cloth
    tidy up their toys
    vacuuming
