Never heard of it. When I saw the question asking for Xmas gift game ideas, I was going to suggest Monopoly or Uno. Lol

We have played a game where you choose a number out of a hat and you get the gift with that number. Every person then gets a chance to swap their gift or not swap depending what you got. We usually sit in a circle and start with one person and go round the circle to swap. The gifts are usually cheap items like packets of lollies, small Christmas decorations up to the $5 amount so it’s fair for all.

Friends of ours played this last Christmas at their family Christmas. Didn’t go well as some people did not spend the agreed amount and they were the ones to switch pressies for the better pressies. Caused resentment.

I remember playing that in my teenage years a long time ago

I’ve played this one at a work Xmas party and I agree with alidam it can leave people unhappy with their gift. I think it ended up being that if someone seemed happy with their gift then the next person became determined to get it. But if everyone stays jolly then it should be fun.

Great game idea although each family member might like something different.

ALIDAM comments further down has hit the nail on the head with the rules…and yes some can be disappointed with what they end up with if they swap.

We used to do this we called it lucky dip gifts.

I need to try this with my family it would be fun
