Hello!

With Christmas fast approaching I’m sure there are a lot of us who have already planned out the menu, but mine isn’t set in stone so I’d love to know what others are making.
I’m not hosting and was thinking of bringing along a potato bake and a tiramisu.
I’d love to know what is a hit for other families.

  • We had yummy salads, baked vegies, ham, pork and lamb, home made gravy, I had make your own Pavlovas and mum brought a plum pudding. And then to end the day we made Strawberry daiquiris!!

  • We do a buffet style meal with cold meats, bread rolls, salads, fruit, and so on. It’s actually pretty simple, leftovers work for lunches afterwards, and everyone enjoys it.

  • I didn’t host this year either but took a potato salad and a pearl barley, tomato and cucumber salad. Simple but very well received by all.

  • I cheated with. OST food this year but I did take the time to make my delicious potato salad and beetroot salad which is always a favourite. I also make a delicious rocky road from scratch which everyone enjoyed with a coffee for morning tea. I was able to make that a couple of days in advance so I only had to make the salads on Christmas Eve which really helped this year.

  • I’m always the one who makes the potato salad (with horseradish cream in the mayo) and a Chocolate Tia Maria Berry Coffee layered Trifle. It’s all pretty standard each year with everyone bringing a plate. The salads vary each year as we try new ones.

  • In the kitchen getting it done today! Menu is glazed baked ham, brisket, roast chicken, slaw, garden salad, crispy potatoes, potato bake, roast veggies, crispy chicken wings, charcuterie board, pavlova, tiramisu. Looking forward to eating with my loved ones and plying my face with pimple patches the next day hahah worth it

  • We also purchase and serve up a selection of cold meats too. We like to serve up ham and other slices of cold meats for those that prefer cold meat and a lighter lunch at Christmas time. We also like to serve up a selection of snacks for before Christmas lunch and a selection of different cheese and crackers for after lunch.

  • We always cook a variety of roast meats which includes turkey, we also cook the trimmings; which includes a variety of sides which includes bacon and chipolatas, roast vegetables, sauces and gravy and more. We also serve my homemade Christmas pudding, trifle and pavlova; we like to serve sweet desserts to suit all taste buds.

  • I’m making a mix of desserts this Christmas to suit everyone’s taste. I ordered a box of little dessert cups and lids off Amazon and I’m making mini trifles, mini pavlovas with cream and fruit and also I’m doing Black Forest type trifle for something different, although I’m just getting the cake layer from cheesecake shop because I have so much to make.

  • Oh my goodness meedee, I can see why you host. That sounds absolutely divine! I’m so curious about what the salad spread is like, 6 is so impressive.

  • I always host and for us it starts on christmas eve with Roast pork, roast veggies and gravy and homemade apple sauce. For dessert there is a trifle.
Christmas breakfast is english muffins with a meat patty, bacon, egg and cheese.
Christmas lunch is a dressed ham with pineapple and cherries. 6 different types of salad and for dessert a Pavlova with cream, berries and flaked chocolate.
For dinner turkey and roast veggies.
For dessert christmas pudding with custard and cream
