Hello!

A bloke is violently ill with food poisoning/gastro symptoms, has to take the day off work because he was just that sick and unable to leave the bathroom- this man never takes time off work.

His wife cancels the dinner plans they had with his parents for that evening, his mother gets upset and somehow a man who was on the brink of death, makes a miraculous recovery after speaking to his mother over the phone.

Dinner plans are back on and he actually manages to go and even eat food at the party.

Could you do it? Could you make a full recovery that fast so as not to upset someone?

Personally I couldn’t, especially when I’ve got a tummy bug I can’t even look at food. Besides- what if it was actually gastro that he had and then he rocked up to the party anyway just to keep his parents happy…

He’s like some kind of Superman of the food world, or perhaps a Supermamasboy lol I can’t quite decide which but I would LOVE to know where you sit with this lovely Mouths of Mums community

  • No, you should be without symptoms for a minimum of 24hrs before you go back to normal activities like work, school, going out, meeting people

  • Very odd to suddenly feel better. But maybe he really did recover so quickly, and I guess you’d be really hungry buy then haha.

  • It would be extremely inconsiderate to attend, it’s also extremely inconsiderate to put someone under pressure to continue the dinner plans in this situation

  • If you have been sick, you should wait until a minimum of 24 hours since last symptoms to be around other people. Hope he didn’t spread his tummy bug to anyone else.

  • How would he feel if his mum got sick obviously he wasn’t that sick most people would at least wait until the next day.

  • Oh this would really upset me that simply because his mother wants him to attend he does. And how rude of his mother. Nope…this entire situation would annoy me big time.

  • I don’t think I could – I think the sight and smell of food would have be running to the bathroom. And nothing worse than not being at home when you are crook and needing a bathroom!

  • I would be staying home and recovering!

  • Well, food poisoning isn’t infectious, so he’s not a danger to anyone. I wouldn’t feel like it, but I guess there’s no harm if he feels up to it.

  • After a tummy upset a stomach needs lots of tlc and gentle and bland foods. Staying away from others is also a must to avoid any possible passing/spreading of any bug.

  • Super strange! Why would you go to a dinner party after a day of gastro? Can’t think of anything worse and how horrible if it was something contagious and he just passed it on. Also, what is wrong with the mother who is making him attend? How bizarre!

  • Why would he take the chance of passing something off to his parents if it was actually gastro? If it was food poisoning it takes at least a day after the symptoms have gone for me to recover sufficiently to do anything. Either he’s still attached by the apron strings or he was never as bad as he made out he was.

  • I would have thought it best not to go for all sorts of reasons. 1. A quick recovery from food poisoning – in my experience it absolutely exhausts and depletes you. 2. It’s the best reason to get out of a dinner party. 3. I’d be worried I could pass it onto others at the dinner party. You just never know. You would want to be sure it was food poisoning and not gastro or similar.

  • Sounds like he was faking gastro/food poisoning. If he was truly ill, mommas boy or not, he would never be able to recover to attend much less eat. I’ve had gastro and food poisoning in my lifetime and I was like an old rung out dish rag for days, even when the vomiting and diarrhea stopped. Even with all the gastro stop and electrolyte replacement I still felt like rubbish.

  • Hmmm sounds similar to when a guy has ‘man flu’ otherwise known as a cold. Perhaps he was exaggerating how severe the throwing up was, and it was more like a mild upset tummy bug. Otherwise I’d be thinking his mum has a pretty big hold over him

  • That is not possible as usually you are exhausted and want to sleep and no way are you hungry and you wouldn’t dare go out in case of a accident. He is full of s__t.

  • Bit of an odd one there
    .. does sound NQR

  • Personally I wouldn’t attend.

  • My husband says it depends on how much you have to put up with if you don’t go. Maybe showing up despite the tummy bug was the lesser of the two evils lol!

  • Should have stayed home, going out puts more people at risk even if h was fewling better.
