Check out the arts and crafts part of the MoMs website. There’s lots of brilliant ideas here, family friendly and relatively easy. I’m sure you’ll find something. I’ve just bought a book “Projects to do with Dad” that has 40 projects for kids and dads to do.
Lego seemed to be the best play activity for my 3 sons at that age, depending how crafty they are the kit models keep them busy. Our middle son loved to draw & the art books (that I still have) kept him happy for hours.
you can get kits for building tanks planes cars motor bikes as well as plastic you can get wood ones. One of my Grandson’s we got him a wooden fire engine that you build and it come with lights and every thing and than you paint it and he has decided when he comes over that is for him and Grand Dad to build as he would not take it home and it is quite big. Check toy shops as some have things at a really good price even Kmart and Target Big W place alike have them at time and some times you might see them in the cheaper shops. You can also get like electronic kits that they build. My son use to love them.
You can buy model kits of cars planes and lots of things in the toy shops they are great as they come with everything you need some of the craft shops stock wood kits
Big w now sell little kits where they can make their own little tool boxes or bird tables cant remember what else they had but they looked really good and were only about $12.
Boys also enjoy lumo bands as much as girls. And they can make great gifts for mums and friends. all the kids seem to love them. my son had to have his own kit after he kept waning to enjoy making lumo bands with his sister.
Lego, or for art work pick his favourite character and let him create that, or maybe even some woodwork always fun for the boys to build something. Or go to the local cheap store and pick up a model set and let him build a car or something that suits his personality
It’s dependent on what his interests are. My brother wanted to encourage his son to do “boy” stuff, and follow “boy” interests, but the kid was really interested in cooking. Luckily his mother encourage him, and he’s now a chef in charge of a restaurant. So maybe your boy would like to try his hand at cooking?
