Hello!

Hi, I’m thinking of buying my girls a combined Christmas present of either a cubby or a trampoline, but I can’t decide which one would be better to get. One of my girls will be 6 and the other one 1 at Christmas time. Which would you choose and why? Thanks.

  • I agree that a trampoline requires more supervision but then an one year old needs supervision all the time anyway. Both are items which are very much loved here. The cubby house inspires for more imaginary play, the trampoline for more exercise.

  • A trampoline never gets old, and provides exercise and fun. Your 1 year old could always just crawl/toddle around it or have toys in there if she’s unable to jump.

  • I like trampolines as it can tire them out. We have like a fitted shade cloth over the top and they make kind of camp cubbies inside.

  • Cubby both could use however trampoline would provide more fun I believe however they couldn’t do it together as the age gap I would say cubby,

  • a cubby house would be a lot more suitable as you could leave them and no they won’t get hurt, on the trampoline u have to watch them constantly for safety reasons ..

  • we have both! and both are well loved! trampoline good exercise and I guess better for your older child.

  • Depends on budget really; a tramp can b cheaper and a sheet can turn it into a castle ;)

  • We chose a trampoline and now look back and wish we had bought a cubby! Our son lost interest in the trampoline a while ago and it is just sitting there in our backyard…we though it would be a good bit of exercise aswell, but he is just not interested.

  • You can always build a cubby out of sheets and boxes I would go the trapoline. but its a tough one.

  • Obviously your 6 year old will get the most fun at this stage from what you choose so think about which she will enjoy most now and your lucky 1 year old will enjoy as she grows.

  • I would go with the cubby house, they will use it for years and if you get the right size one they can use it for sleep over in years to come. we have both and the Cubby house is great all year round as it is a escape for the rain in winter

  • I would lean towards a trampoline, they don’t get bored with it so quick, all ages use it and its a great tool when visitors come over.

  • I would go with a trampoline for sure. My kids have one and they love it and it’s also good exercise as well for the kids.

  • A cubby house might be the way to go at this stage and then perhaps a trampoline the year after when Miss 1 is a little bigger.
Im sure both will get a lot of use.

  • I would go the cubby, the 6 year old is still young enough and the 1 year old will grow into it. I feel the trampoline would be better when your younger chilld is a little older 2 -3. But either is really fine.

  • Trampoline, for sure. They’re great. I think you’d have to organise it for your little one so that she got some play value out of it- we have a beach ball on ours and often use it as a play space rather than a bouncy thing. We also have a teepee that rarely gets used..but that’s a cheaper alternative for the interim.

  • Trampoline – you might find your 6 year old is very soon too tall for most cubby’s and outgrows the use of it but a trampoline will be used well beyond that. Lucky kids!!!

  • With the ages I’d buy a cubby. More useful for both and as they grow a place to create dreams and have secrets x

  • I would go for the cubby as the 1 year old will get equal use out of it a trampoline is a bit to dangerous for her

  • From an age perspective probably a cubby house, from a gender perspective a cubby house. From my own personal experience a tramp was better for my 3 boys they still play on it but the cubby house that we built for them doesn’t get used it’s basically just junk storage.. So a trampoline would last longer in my opinion but then it’s probably not the best option for a 1 year old..
