Hello!

Do you close the toilet door or do your children? None of us close the door, never really seen the point, unless there is visitors etc.

  • Yes we became more diligent when we started fostering children and our own children became older

  • only when there are visitors

  • Generally we push the door shut. We only lock it when we have visitors.

  • Sometimes yes and sometimes no depending who is in the home!

  • I only ever close the door when i have visitors in the house, my ears have to be listening at all times

  • When my kids were infants/toddler at a young age when they still need to be supervised , I never did in case there was an emergency etc. . The children are teenagers now so yes for privacy reasons , but they don’t seem to out of habit , so it is ok with all of us ( unless there’s visitors of course )

  • I ALWAYS leave the door open, my partner doesn’t like it very much but I feel more comfortable knowing that it is open.
However I do need to remember when we have visitors I MUST shut the door, there have been a couple of very embarassing incidents haha!
I do close the door when I have my monthlies tho.
Glad to know I am not the only person who does this :)

  • No, toilet door stays open, except for that time of the month, don’t want them seeing that! It’s only closed when we have visitors. Hopefully we remember

  • Ha! Glad I’m not the only one, I don’t close any doors, never have. My son is almost 14 and he closes every door! It’s amazing how wired it feels but TOTALLY UNDERSTANDABLE and recommended, we’ll knock, it’s cool :P haha! I have to remind myself all the time when I have guests to shut the door behind me.

  • Yes, after a mum in mums group advised of the number of infant drownings our door is closed unless in use by an adult

  • My daughter & I use my ensuite toilet, it is the girls toilet.. My husband & all 3 of our boys use the main toilet.. We all shut the door, because we have taught our children about private time, and their private bits can’t be shown to others in our house, or outside our house..

Plus there is nothing worse than hearing someone peeing, or dropping a poo in the loo… Let alone the stench of poo! eek!

  • Yes; privacy and importantly quiet time!

  • Until your question I had never thought about it but we don’t shut the toilet door also.

  • No not generally. But we have 5 kids so someone will just open it if it’s closed!

  • We are the same, thought Miss 10 does now which is fine.

  • Yeah toilet door is usually shut at our place, sometimes its pushed just to for a number 1…. anything else, its closed!

  • Never closed the toilet door or bathroom unless we have visitors.

  • We’re building a house and have an outside dunny. It doesn’t have a door but we have a shower curtain that is pulled across when visitors are here. Most times we leave it open when just the little kids are home. Our teenagers have it closed of course.

  • Personally we close the door but sometimes open it to talk or in cases of illness, every house is different :)

  • Yes I close the door, I figure it is good practice for when visitors are around and it also gives me some privacy from the toddler!
