Hello!

I started a tradition of letting my daughter open one gift Christmas Eve. If you do the same, do you give her a small gift or a bigger gift? I was thinking a small gift but something to get her really excited about Santa arriving in the morning. This will be her first Christmas where she really understands Christmas so it’s going to be very special.

  • In hindsight I would really like to do this. But I believe Christmas is more about family time rather then gifts. Maybe you could start a tradition instead..like preparing the Christmas dessert for Christmas night..as a family.

  • My kids get new Christmas pjs to wear and a new Christmas to read. They also get some special munchies to eat while they watch a Christmas movie.

  • People that I know that do this often give a small gift.

  • We do not give gifts on Christmas Eve, we do eat lots of yummy treats.

  • We have the tradition of a Christmas Eve box .. new pjs to wear, snacks for a Christmas movie to watch, a book to read before bed etc
Really get us all in the festive mood excited for Santa to come over night
I also plan on putting Santa’s special mug and plate in this and the special key each year just to add a few more elements that can be reused over and over but still add to it.

  • In our European family tradition we actually open the majority of our Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve and then received a few extra ones from Santa on Christmas Day.
I don’t see anything wrong with giving your daughter a gift on Christmas Eve!
