Hello!

Firstly, do you use Christmas Crackers, and secondly, if you do, do you make your own and what do you put in them? Store bought ones seem very expensive.

  • No I’ve never made Christmas crackers, never even thought of making them. But don’t forget the bad joke..

  • I make them for gifts. Inside I use everything from mini bath bombs to sleep masks to jelly belly champagne jelly beans

  • They add a bit of fun during Christmas lunch.

  • We have made our own in the past, but we don’t have them every year and when we do it is easier to buy some from the supermarket.

  • My kids and I love to make our own christmas crackers they like to help place the “prizes” inside and they place them in the tree for some extra sparkle.

  • I have made them for a few years. You can buy the snaps pretty cheap on ebay and then use a template for the paper/cardboard part. I usually put something in there that the person will like and actually use, of course there is also the hat and a bad joke too.
The other idea is to buy the super cheap crackers, open them up, take out the dodgy toy and replace it with something a bit better.

  • I buy my Christmas crackers but it’s not a bad idea to make your own!

  • We have made crackers in the past – there are a number of youtube tutorials and they’re pretty easy. We’ve made some with wrapped lollies and gummies in them for the kids, and some with costume jewellery and beer paraphernalia for the adults.

  • no the ones that you buy are boring. just more wastage in my opinion

  • Party supplies stores have all the materials you will need to make your own crackers, including the novelties.

  • I put wrapped lollies, sweets and novelties on crackers. But…..No bad jokes! ;)

  • Like the idea of bigger ones for Christmas Stockings!

  • Yes, I do. I make bigger ones for my kids Xmas stockings and I make smaller ones for kids who turn up on the day. I put lollies in them. You can buy bags of small, knick knack fracker types presents. They have them for girls and boys, I think they’re actually for party bags, but are great for crackers
