I gave up on folding years back and have done this ever since!

A tried and true method. Over the years I try to buy clothes that don’t wrinkle and don’t need ironing.

I still have to iron my husband’s shirts, so I don’t see how this makes it easier.

A good idea but wouldn’t work with all items of clothing, so for me it would add another step to my washing routine.

I too love using hangers, though I don’t hang underwear and socks. Really does make choosing clothes easier, and keeps them nice and neat. Great idea for those who are bothered by folding!

I tried hanging kids clothes in cupboard (thought it would be a good idea for school uniforms) and encountered one major problem – the kids (mine are lower primary age) are not tall enough to be able to reach the hangers and lift them off the rail! As a result, most of the hanged items in the cupboard end up on the floor in a messy heap. Will definitely try hanging washing on the hangers on the line though (she says looking at the growing pile of husband’s shirts waiting to be ironed!)

We do a mix of folded and hung… one of my stepsons is very good at putting his clothes away and keeping his room tidy… the other is not. Doesn’t matter if they are hung or not he is still in an attitude of someone else will do it for him or if he is asked to do it his clothes just end up shoved in a draw… Slowly but surely getting better. My son mainly resides at his Dad’s but has a very neat pile of folded clothes here.

I like hanging my shirts on clothes hangers straight away as the wrinkles are much less this way. Quicker and easier to iron.

I have never hung trousers on the line on hangers. They would take too long to dry unless it was a hot day. However I have a sturdy clothes airer that I hang small items, including underwear, socks and tops that the kids tend to tuck in with pegs as I find they take less hanging space that way.With an airer if it rains you just grab it and move to where it won’t get wet outdoors, or if the washing on it is dry enough I lift the whole thing inside. No unpegging in the rain and a lot of things left on the line because they are too wet by the time you get to them. You can also dry them in the shade on hot days or have it out in the open and move it as the sun moves overhead. It was taught this trick by a relative when I was still in high school.

Since I have been hanging to dry them on hangers it had cut out the ironing!

For the kid’s clothing I hang everything except pyjamas and it is so much quicker and easier than folding (and it looks so much neater). Unfortunately we don’t have the cupboard space for my husband and I to do the same but I would love to have a big enough wardrobe so that I could hang everything.

yes i thought that with 5 in our house, that we wouldn’t have the space….until i did the biiiggggg clean out! we donated so many clothes and then our pile was only consisting of things that we really liked and things that were appropriate to wear and we only saved enough for a couple of weeks worth of clothes. i wash basically everyday so i don’t need hundreds of items per child. What they need for a week or so, is enough. save that money! lol

In an ideal world, I probably would consider this. But with 6 in the household, I’m pushed for hanging space and coat hangers. Yes, my kids manage to knock down clothes when they get something else out, but they also knock down multiple coat hangers too. I’m resigned to messy cupboards, and having a giggle when my toddler plays hide and seek in the pile of folding. When I do have the time, I call out to the bigger kids and hand them a pile of folding as I take it off the clothes line. I’m glad this works for you.

I hang hubby’s work shirts on hangers while wet but I’d need more cupboard space for all of it.

I always hang up shirts and tops as soon as they come out of the machine. Less ironing and no peg marks.
