Hello!

We have piggy banks for our girls as we are trying to teach them how to save money and or spend wisely. Do your children have money boxes or piggy banks?

  • My eldest does but I haven’t started it yet for the younger kids

  • We moved to bank accounts as one of our kids has kleptomania and cash is not safe in our house.

  • My kids all have piggy banks. We are actually about to open bank accounts for them all as well.

  • We picked piggy banks because we thought they were cute, but as they got older they all picked a money box that suited their personality: train, butterfly, platypus.

  • We are planning to get ours one when she is two and open a bank account to take the money into.

  • Yes, my daughter uses the money in her piggy bank for small school expenses.

  • Our children have little piggy money boxes which they put their coins into, once it is full we pop it into their bank account & start over.
It gives the kids a understanding of money & saving, & they think it is awesome putting their coins in the “hungry little piggy”!

  • Yes – it’s really great for them to learn to save from a young age. My kids run to put any money they get in their piggy banks.

  • yes and it was something that i was doing as a child too so it is sentimental to me.

  • At the end of the month we take the money out and put into their bank books and go down to the bank and each of them bank their money of what they haven’t spent

  • Yes, both my children have money boxes, my children always get money from their grandparents and love putting money in them. When they get full we take the money out and put it in their money boxes.

  • Yeah my twins put about 50 cents in a week, just starts them off to learn what to do

  • My kids do and am trying to set up a system where they earn there money. I also try to put money for them every week, even if it’s only a little.

  • Both of my boys had money boxes and they used them for a quite a long time – I think until my eldest was about 7 years. Now I struggle to get them to put money into their wallets!!

  • Yes, my daughter has one! But she never uses the money. Ha! Ha!

  • They do but we don’t really use them.

  • Your bank will often give the kids money boxes for free as part of their savings account.

  • I encouraged my kids to divide their pocket money. Some for saving for something they really want, some for the bank and some for them to spend now on whatever. They had money boxes that couldn’t be opened for their savings

  • Not part of regular savings for them – just for special coins like tooth fairy money.

  • We have both – money boxes for the bank money/savings and piggy banks for spending.
