Hello!

Ok to cut a long story short. I love spending, I love buying, I buy things daily, is it just me or do others have this problem.

  • This is me when I leave the house. So I purposefully stay home unless I have to go to the shops for food. I also purposefully don’t open up online shopping sites so I’m not tempted.

  • I think our culture encourages this. But its worth examining if you are buying things for a subconscious reason like being bored or lonely.
I like having nice things, of course. But I only buy things I actually need and will use, I just enjoy reading up about things and choosing something I really want. I dont have money or space for things we wont use. We have 3 kids and an old house so theres nearly always something needs replacing anyway :(

  • I have recently discovered afterpay and am constantly buying things, i wouldn’t if I didnt have afterpay haha

  • Not really, I don’t have enough money to do that. I am hopeless when it comes to my grandson though. I always have my eyes peeled for things to buy him.

  • If only I had the money to be a shopaholic! Although I must admit, when it comes to my grandson, I always havr my eyes open looking for bits and pieces for him. No matter where I am!

  • Omg hope hubby never sees this but I’m definetly a shopaholic. I’m not trying to fill any void or anything, I just love shopping and having four kids, nothing really goes to waste. So your not alone.

  • Depends on if what you are buying are needs or wants. If it is wants try and avoid the shops on a daily basis or put the money aside into another accounts yo save for something special.
Shopping is a great stress reliever at the time, but if you go into debt because of it then becomes a bigger stress later on.

  • I’m the same and now that I have join nutrimetics I am always buying things online and for presents for family and friends and even when go away I give friends a gift. I love what they have. Have a look if you haven’t seen nutrimetics for a while you will be surprise and why not join then that way you get free products which I also love. You cant take it with you and you make someone happy giving things away.

  • Yup!

I send my husband shopping for the quick trips, and we do a weekly shop together – I’m saving so much money now.

Unfortunately, the FB BSS pages are my new weakness!

  • I really think its quite normal :)

  • I love it!! Although I can’t afford to do it as much now:( so I usually buy online and go op shopping instead.

  • I guess it depends on if you are spending beyond your means. if it isn’t affecting your family life and all is well then I guess there isn’t really a big problem. are you spending money to help deal with a different issue that you don’t want to address?

  • I think it’s all about your priorities.
If you have plenty of money then I guess it’s not a drama.
Perhaps do some research on the environmental impact of buying new clothes and the impact of packaging etc, this might help to put you off spending needlessly.
I’d also look into perhaps buying for others, like a church group or charity, for oversees and local orphanages, homeless shelters etc. That way your over spending and purchasing will not be selfish or wasteful, it will be helping someone who truly needs those items.

  • I think it depends on whether or not you can afford to spend daily :D

  • I too have this problem. I try and stay away from the shops and when I do go I stick to my list. Easier said then done though.

  • I also love spending money on anything, groceries, going out for lunch or dinner, books, I just love the interaction and it’s addictive.

  • I have this problem with online shopping sometimes its the cheapest way therefore is still budgeting :) just need to focus on things needed not wanted :)

  • I used to and blew all my money when working in the mines, but after being flat broke one day recently, i realised the value of money and now i try to save in every way possible…

  • I used to after 2 babies in 14 months. I suffered depression. It took me a year to slowly sort and declutter the spending spree and I’ve been ok ever since

  • I have never been a spender and often don’t enjoy shopping but like most of us I enjoy getting stuff. For several years now it has been my mission to reduce my footprint on the environment. This has lead me to learning new skills and becoming very innovative (I recently knitted a rug using strips from worn bed sheets). Maybe changing your focus this way will give you a sense of satifaction, save you money and help the environment.
