  • How does a person get started with this hobby?

  • I didn’t know this was a home hobby. Sounds rewarding.

  • This sound’s like an interestin hobby, good luck!

  • I think you can learn to do this at your local community centre as they have everything . Probably cost would be similar to making anything , and in case of dolls, it might be more intricate since you have to make dresses etc.

  • I’ve seen a craft magazine which had links to buying porcelain doll making kits – might be easier to have it come as a kit and you just assemble although doing that you don’t have that creative aspect of modelling the body.

  • no but that sounds very interesting. i reckon that it would a great little hobby and you might even be able to sell them

  • Thanks for your honest feedback ozstarlett – very informative and helpful. :)

  • I made one a number of years ago – my mum made a few. We found out about the lady from a doll & bear show. It was quite expensive to make them and time consuming – by the time you consider the moulding, sculpting, cleaning, painting, and then you usually pay for eyes, hair, dress and shoes which can be quite costly as well. It is great to see the finished product – if you completed it over a number of weeks and paid it off as you went probably wouldn’t work out much more than joining a gym or another hobby like scrapbooking etc.

  • It looks fantastic. Sometimes I see wonderful dolls and I think whoever is able to make them is very artistic and creative!

  • I am keen to take up a new hobby and love being creative and would love to make these beautiful looking dolls.

  • What an interesting hobby, one I’ve never thought of doing and I love the porcelain dolls in the shops,mi own quite a few too.

  • Making porcelain dolls sound awesome, you would have to have a steady hand though, but sorry not sure where you learn to make them… Good Luck!
