I think you can learn to do this at your local community centre as they have everything . Probably cost would be similar to making anything , and in case of dolls, it might be more intricate since you have to make dresses etc.
I’ve seen a craft magazine which had links to buying porcelain doll making kits – might be easier to have it come as a kit and you just assemble although doing that you don’t have that creative aspect of modelling the body.
I made one a number of years ago – my mum made a few. We found out about the lady from a doll & bear show. It was quite expensive to make them and time consuming – by the time you consider the moulding, sculpting, cleaning, painting, and then you usually pay for eyes, hair, dress and shoes which can be quite costly as well. It is great to see the finished product – if you completed it over a number of weeks and paid it off as you went probably wouldn’t work out much more than joining a gym or another hobby like scrapbooking etc.
