I’d look for a new doctor or just go up to the maternity ward and tell them you need some reassuring. My GP is also an OB and she took care of everything the whole way except booking into hospital which was midwives.

I would give the hospital you are going to give birth at a call and see what their policy is.

I went to the dr at 4 weeks and I knew I was pregnant but she was no help. Didn’t even do tests because she said pregnancy kits are accurate! However she did refer me to an obstetrician which was great! He took care of everything from then on and I didn’t have to think about a thing except to remember to go see him!

My first pregnancy over 9 years ago I went to the Dr got bloods done, he rang to confirm and then he sent referral letters to the hospital and I got all my appointments by mail. This time (just over a year ago) I went to the Dr he confirmed by a urine test and then gave me a number to ring that then sets you up with your referral and tells you your appointment date on the spot. I honestly do not like it as you cannot choose your hospital rather you get lumped in whatever hospital by whatever postcode you live in and are not allowed to change. If you are in South Australia you need to call the pregnancy referral line which is 1300 368 820.

I had my pregnancy last year but have already forgot bits. My doctor always got me to book back to check results rather than her call me, so may be worth booking in to check. There can be a 12 week scan but we didn’t get it so there was a big wait before the next needed appointment. I found I had to be on top of bookings because it was easy to get lost in the system. I booked all my midwife appointments St the first one which helped. All the best and congratulations 🙂

It does sound a bit strange that there is no appointments or scans till 20 weeks if you don’t feel comfortable pehaps see if your partner can ring and get more info. I would personally change Dr though.

I would get a second opinion from another go you should be getting a scan at 12 weeks and doing a gt test,

You poor thing. Just remember how blessed yoy are. Another life on the way! gp to a completely new dr and ask advice. Or walk intp local hospital and ask at reception for direction.
Eat healthy. Dont panic and forget the silly drs who treated you badly xx

I would even though it hard ring the medical centre and explain its been a while since the last pregnancy, and i think you will find they will organise monthly followup appointments with your doctor. Sometime the doctor if they have OB eperience might have a doppler on hand so you can hear a heart beat. Also you might find you need a 10 to 12 week ultra sound and blood tests to find out if there are issuse you need to follow up. Having issues myself in a pregnany I know a person needs all the love and support they can get. Make sure you make a appointment soon so you can get the test done. They will proberly suggest montly appointments or sooner fornighly if you need it until hand over to the hospital. My understanding of Share care for public people is you see you doctor regularly until hand over to hospital and in between if you need it.

if your not sure about seeing that particular doctor again, maybe you can call the midwife. Im not sure if they have it at every hospital, but instead of seeing a doc at a clinic, you can attend the appointments in the hospital visiting the midwife and docs there. I only saw my doc 3 times throughout my pregnancy and the midwife every other time. I didn’t see anyone until 20wks after I found out I was pregnant. After that it was every 4 weeks, then 2 wks.
