Easter Egg Hunt Ideas - Mouths of Mums

Hello!

This is the first Easter hunt I’ll be making for my toddler and would love some ideas on what to fill the eggs with. Because he’s very young he’ll only get a small amount of chocolate, but I have the diy fill eggs from Kmart to hide around. Any suggestions what could go in them? The eggs will lead him to the hiding spot of a large plush toy. Thank you!

  • Thank you so much for all the great suggestions everyone! I ended up finding a cute large plush chick and a nest to place it in. We aren’t big on giving lots of sweets to him as he’s still young, so most eggs will have his favourite yoghurt drops, a bag of toddler puff chippies, and some carob bears (husbands suggestion hoping he’ll go without real chocolate), and a special macaron from his favourite bakery.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter

  • I remember my daughters first easter egg hunt, it was so exciting and she loved every minute of it. I added things like stickers, stamps, crayons, little chicken furry chickens, a kids friendly joke, duplo blocks that make something once you find all the bits and easter eggs. This is such a fun thing to do with the kids

  • It’s hard when they are little as you can’t do anything too small as a choking hazard. I also think you can’t do to many bigger things as it ends up like Xmas! I’d do simple single lollies like a jelly snake, the odd chocolate and then single stickers.

  • When my children were younger. I wouldn’t get them so much chocolate. I would buy things they might need or want or have been asking fo!r one year. I got them a fishing rod and tackle box as well as a few Easter eggs and they were stoked and so was the dentist 😆

  • Depending on the age of your child you could put little toys in them such as stretchy hands, mini cars, a couple of gummy lollies so not a lot of chocolate. Even a small figure of a bunny rabbit.

It all depends on their age. I have kids aged 9, 6 and 4 months.. I have absolutely no idea what to give my 4 month old this year.

  • If I was going to do a DIY fill eggs I would probably put little finger puppets or small bath toys in the eggs as you don’t want to use very small toys. I know my Grandson would also love them filled with cars or dinosaurs, toys similar to what you would find in a Kinder Surprise.

  • Hot wheels could be a good idea! He’s really going through a monster truck moment so he would love that. And good call on the small pieces. It’s final molar time and anything and everything has been finding a way into his mouth. He’s really into macarons right now (I’ve made him so boujee haha) so maybe one of those can fit in

  • How old is your toddler ? I filled mine with hot wheel cars, lego, stickers, cute erasers, key chain, little wind up toys, money, hair ties and scrunchies for my girls. When you are choosing small toys to fill your eggs with , please be aware that small toys may pose a choking hazard for young children.
