anything with basic counting, matching objects and reading. they don’t need much in the way of “games” at this age

I have a 14 month and we sing nursery rhymes, dance around, read stories. In recently bought some animal flash cards which I show him, the letter, the animal and the sound it makes.

My little one had a shop that he was in charge of at home! Sold me all sorts of wonderful things. Lol.

One on one interaction is the best for little bubs! sing nursery rhymes and do the actions like incy wincy spider, or even go for a walk to your local botanic gardens & wander thorough talking about the flowers & trees! anything engaging will make them happy!

Encouraging them to move to the music even if they aren’t walking amuses them. Our 6 month old started “jigging” on his Dad’s lap one night of his accord. Imagine his Dad’s surprise when he thought his son was going to sleep. lol….and was imagining the movement.
If you are going to use a pop top bottle make sure there is no way your little one can get the lid off. It is surprising how determined and strong enough to try to get it off and sometimes succeed. Maybe glue the top on at the top of the bottle. Better to be safe than sorry.
You could also give him plastic blocks to stack. Have you got a toy that has shapes you put in via holes in it? Have you thought of going to your local council to see if they have a toy library? If so check it out. I would prefer toys that you can clean before your baby plays with them.

Agree music is a great one!
Finger painting, making potato stamps and using natural shapes of food like celery for paint stamping. Could try some fine motor skills activities with colour sorting balls, pompoms etc.

Kids love music, make some shakers out of rice and a pop top bottle, you can even add some food colour to the rice to make it colourful, my son (12months) and i love to put music on and dance together, it teaches them movement and rhythm.

Role play is great – and you can use stuff like plastic plates and utensils, or old clothes for dress ups.
