  • I meal plan with whatever is on special for the week while I do my online shop.

  • I try to – some weeks we stick to, some we don’t!

    My kids love….
    Curried sausages
    Tacos
    Spag Bol
    Lasagne
    Quiche Lorraine
    Meat pie with veggies
    Chicken fillet with veggies
    Fried Rice
Chow Mein (3 out of 4, anyway!)
Scrambled eggs with side of veggies

When really time poor, they’ll eat pasta with pesto

  • Weekly meal planning was a game changer for me to not only reduce green waste but keep the shopping budget down.
I keep a list on my phone of all the meals I make if I need a little inspo.
I love making chicken shawarma or middle eastern meatball pitas, marinated chicken salad, Asian glazed salmon with rice and steamed greens, stir frys, pizza on Lebanese bread. All things made from scratch that don’t require all day effort.

  • I sure do, I make a section in my notes on the app on my phone and write down meal ideas/plan for the week so I know what ingredients I buy care for..and when.

  • No meal planing here it’s a case of asking my husband what he wants to eat for dinner every morning, he then will take meat out of the freezer if he wants meat or buy it if we don’t have it.

  • Pasta bake with salad
    Homemade Pizza
    Cesear salad
    Kebab sticks & vegetables
    Curry Sausages, veges & rice

  • I bought a thermomix because I was so over having to come up with ideas each week. It’s an expensive up front cost but you end up saving so much money. I plan my meals for the week on the cookidoo app and then add all the ingredients for each meal to my shopping list on the app. Most of it I already have in pantry or fridge so my food shop is pretty minimal. It’s been a lifesaver. I also love that you can leave it cooking and not have to watch it because there’s no open flames.

  • We do chicken skewers over rice with Avo, shaved cucumber, diced tomato, and diced red capsicum all in a bowl like a Poke bowl.
    The kids love them

  • I started meal planning and it worked for a few weeks, then like everything else we got slack with it.

  • Steak and chips with veggies on the side

  • Lasagne is a super quick and easy one for us to whip up. Also any pasta that can be mixed in with veggies, mushrooms and cream always seems to be a hit with the family

  • I meal plan each week. Breakfast for me is at the moment Carmen’s oats that I add banana, strawberries and blueberries to. Kids are toast or cereal. Lunch, sometimes leftovers or whatever I feel like LOL
Dinner, my daughter and husband pick one meal each to cook.
We don’t really have any go to meals, but the most common ones are, burritos, tacos, burgers, homemade pizza, spaghetti bol, devilled sausages, fried rice, and whatever I can throw in the slow cooker

  • I meal plan for the week. I usually stick to the same breakfast and lunches and cook a different meal for dinner. I’ve got an Aldi thermomix and I follow the skinnymixers recipe books. These are so easy and the family usually loves the meals.

  • Yes, I meal plan for the week. Good fallback meals are tuna bake; spaghetti bolognaise; home made chicken nuggets and veggies; and fish and chips or veggies.

  • I meal plan and it helps me save so much money. As I get paid fortnightly I try and do one big shop on pay day that will last the two weeks, then a couple smaller shops just for fresh extras. This also gives the family a chance to have a say on what we are eating. It also helps me stay organised with my busy work and kids activities, I can defrost meat the night before and make sure it’s ready to go.

  • I meal plan for the week as that is what I base my groceries off.
If I don’t mean plan I’m all over the place and end up just buying takeaway which gets quite expensive.
My kids love pasta so that’s generally in there once a week, things like hot dogs, noodles and Rice are also weekly staples.

  • I do my groceries on line and meal plan as I do it using the specials for the week. My kids love spaghetti bolognaise, sausages and mash and tuna pasta bake and they are all cheap to make so we have these three meals most weeks and the rest depend on what’s on special for the week.

  • Also, I shop around with the supermarkets and get products on special and meal plan along with the fresh produce from the markets.

  • I follow The organised mixer on Facebook. At the start of school term she posts a 10week meal plan

  • We do a home made chicken parma. Whole family loves it and for our youngest (picky eater), we just make them into smaller “nuggets”, which he scoffs down. Just some thinly filleted chicken breasts, coat them in flour, then dip them in some beaten egg and then coat in bread crumbs. Fry them off (medium heat so the breadcrumbs don’t burn and the chicken cooks through), then coat with tomato paste or pasta sauce, ham and cheese then under the griller to melt the cheese. You can make the actually chicken fillets in large batches and freeze them so easy to use at a later date.
