  • My kids slowly self weaned as solids were introduced to their diet. The more solids they had, the less they wanted the breast until they just stopped

  • Start with home made purees it good

  • It’s a lot of fun and can be more convenient as you can do some of what you eat rather than separate meal. Broccoli is a great start – hard to choke on, easy to suck and fun for bub to try hold.

  • You can let baby self wean if you are breastfeeding and start giving purees before weaning. Your baby will need to swap to formula when you stop breastfeeding unless baby is about 12 months + Your baby may lose interest in the bottle. You can try a sippy drink container or a plastic glass with or without a straw.

  • Go with your gut. We started purees for a week or two then fork mash. At each sitting we also had finger foods if bub wanted to play with them. Worked fine. “Baby lead weaning” is really just a fancy name for introducing whole size foods….regardless of what you choose baby will figure it out on their own when they are ready. Have fun with it!

  • It depends on how you feel about it. I personally couldn’t do it because I was so anxious that she was going to choke but once I started experimenting with textures and everything, I am much more confident.
With my second baby, I will most likely do baby led weaning because I know what to expect a little better.

  • Yep, she can eat much more confidently herself earlier on
