Hello!

I am looking for ideas on suitable games to organise for a 4th birthday party at a park for my daughter. There are the usual games like pass the parcel etc but would love to hear some new ideas that are easy to organise and are fun.

  • Also bobs and statues is fun. Or dance freeze because it gets them up moving and using up some of the energy. I don’t really recommend musical chairs though as it can get a bit competitive and it’s too easy for someone to get hurt. Simon says is always good and if you get really tired sleeping lions always works a treat ????????????

  • Pin the tail on the donkey, or whatever theme you are doing ie on the dinosaur or pin the wings on the fairy. Pass the parcel ( I always add enough layers for everyone to get a fun size treat at this age and definitely a pinata 3yos LOVE hitting things with sticks ????????????

  • There is a song on Spotify called the floor is Lava. My miss 4 loves this song. Maybe set up a few of some chairs or bean bags and play the song. It gets the kids dancing then they use the soft seats to jump on during the floor is Lava part.

  • Put lots of gum under a picnic table, get plastic scrapers and safety goggles, safety gloves.
Whoever can get the heaviest gumball, has to choose who gets the prize.
Pull kids out of the game for stealing gumball weight.

Dance party, have vinyl with squares. and mirabella genio lights on different scenes using the app, can be done in the park with large enough battery.

Book throwing contest, different size books for different height kids, this is a range, be careful.

Make all the boys pick flower petals, and all the girls destroy something safely. Swap. This should be timed. Hemaphrodite (probably give this a better name (i use sha) children should be placed in the other group.

Same as the gum game, collect grass. 4 groups. Which group can measure 4 different grass weights in 5 mins. 200g, 3g, 1KG, 450g. These numbers can be adjusted, in the case of a lack of grass at the park.

  • Pass a balloon around- when the music stops, the person holding it gets a chocolate frog and is out. Last one in gets a slightly bigger prize.

  • Egg and spoon race. Hide ‘n’ seek. Treasure/scavenger hunt. Take cushions to play musical chairs/cushions :)

  • A party at a playground is also always succesful !

  • Bob’s and statues
    Simon says
    Under the limbo

  • Red rover is one that brings everyone together and you don’t need anything but the kids!

  • Red rov

  • We have some birthday party cookbooks and they include games and ideas; might be worth investing in some good books. I always use these books.

  • When I was younger the standard birthday games were scarecrow, red rover, red letter, what’s the time mr wolf. There’s no preparation necessary. Have pass the parcel because that game is fabulous at any age, and do a piñata if possible. Just remember you are at a park and kids will be happy to run, play and make up their own games. If there’s a playground they will have fun.

  • We love the game where you tie donuts to the clothes line and make the kids put their hands behind their back and whoever eats the donut the quickest wins a prize! Also pass the parcel or musical chairs

  • Yes I agree with the old style party games, we did that when our kids were younger too (like sack races, apple bobbing, egg spoon races, tug of war. Water balloon fights can be fun too

  • We have always loved and used old style games. They seemed to be loved by all generations. Good luck with getting some new ideas.
