Hello!

I am looking for a tall boy & 2 bedside tables however, I haven’t come across anything that seems of good quality that’s affordable. I would welcome any advice… Do you know where to get nice affordable furniture?

  • Op shops and antique type places can have good quality furniture at much cheaper prices. Some may be quite expensive, but a lot of stuff made now is made with cheap materials that won’t last a lifetime. Another place to buy from could be marketplace or gumtree.

  • Have you tried second hand shops? Or charity shops. You’ll be surprised at the bargains you can find in these shops

  • Freedom on sale is brilliant or even op shops have great items that look pretty good.

  • Fantastic furniture is cheap but useful. Kmart have heaps of other smaller furniture items these days.

  • I always look on second hand ones like fb pages for your certain city. Some furniture are a bargain as the owner needs to move etc. =) some local artists even repaint furniture to make it look like beach style or vintage.

  • Great! Really interesting comments read on this!

  • Second hand shops are worth a look. We have Fantastic Furniture and Affordable Furniture, both are great

  • I look in opportunity shops and sometimes you can bag a fantastic bargain but you have to be prepared to hunt and wait.

  • ya know, furniture shops will always either have cheap display models that you can buy or very slightly marked furniture. my couch retails for well over a grand but because of one tiny little scuff mark (barely even see it) it was marked down to 700. we grabbed that quick! of course their are lots of cheaper options. fantastic furniture is pretty good. 2nd hand is good too.

  • Gumtree, eBay. Honestly if you want good quality for a bit less then I’d go for second hand.

  • Ikea have such nice furniture at great prices check them out.

  • Some thing at fantastic furniture is good or try an op shop

  • fantastic furniture are usually pretty good

  • I’d say fantastic furniture or IKEA. They have a huge range and you can always find one to suit your budget.

  • there are some good comments here

  • Super-A-Mart have some reasonably cheap furniture

  • We got some nice things for my sons room from fantastic furniture.

  • Ikea – and check the online catalogues that most places have as it often saves a lot of time going from shop to shop to see furniture you don’t like

  • i hope you found some good furniture :)

  • I think with furniture it’s pretty much a case of ‘you get what you pay for’. I buy furniture from Super Amart and Deals Direct and while it does the job, it definitely isn’t of high quality. I figure that while my kids are young I’ll just make do (because they still like to scribble on/ chew the furniture while I’m not looking) then once they grow up I’ll invest in some good quality stuff that will stay nice. You could always look on your local facebook buy swap and sell sites as I’ve seen some people sell furniture for good prices on there, especially if they’re having a huge moving sale.
