I’m thinking of getting a virtual assistant for the home. I recently had some interaction with Alexa Echo and quite liked how it helped me. I’m excited by the idea that I can just tell it to add something to a shopping list. I’ve read Alexa can’t do some skills in Australia. Anyway, does anyone have a preference for Google nest or Amazon Alexa?

  • We have an Echo and love it.

  • We have a google nest. It works quite well except we have to yell at it sometime cause it doesn’t understand us. But I love being able to say turn off all the lights without getting out of bed. It definitely works better with android then it does apple.

  • I would always suggest it comes down to what you use most in tech. If you have an apple phone, you may find Alexa easier as Google tends to work better with Android products to help link them etc. We have Alexa and love her – very useful for shopping lists, playing music, timers etc and my toddler can use it as well. I havent found a skill that I need is missing but everyone will be different

  • We have an Echo that I purchased via Amazon for my Husband and we really like it. Works well for us and was a great price

  • I love our Google nest but that’s because our whole house is Google.

  • Wow actually I didn’t know they can do things like that.

  • We use Google Nest find it works well really good

  • Google nest

  • Google nest! Love it ????

  • I’ve used google nest which was great but also have a lot of faith in Amazon products

  • I have a google nest! It does wonders, and my 3yo has conversations with it everyday haha.

  • I don’t have either, but I’m interested in reading what use people actually get out of these and if they are worth it

  • I purchased the google nest for my SIL and she loved it a lot.

  • I haven’t tried Alexa but I LOVE my Google home. Definitely recommend!

  • No, but I’d recommend you think very carefully about the privacy issues for either.

  • I dont personally have any. My son has Google nest which seems to do a lot and is quite easy to use

  • I have no experience myself and would seek the opinion of others by online searches

  • I haven’t tried Alexa but our Google nest is great and has some fun features to play around with. Our kids love asking it questions on educational topics of all sorts.

  • I don’t use these products, but if I was, I’d go for google. Simply because their products are used more in everyday life and should be more compatible.

  • I have a google one and I don’t have any complaints.
